For the last ten years, multimedia artist Dominique T Skoltz has collaborated with Montreal artist Herman Kolgen. The unique aesthetic sense of the Skoltz_Kolgen duo has been highlighted many times on the international scene. They have presented their works in over fifty festivals and events including: Biennale Di Venezia, Sonar, Transmediale, MUTEK, Sonic Acts, ELEKTRA, Némo, TransArt and Cimatics. With Flüux:/Terminal they won honorable mention at the prestigious Prix Ars Electronica 2005. Whether in Asia, Europe, South America or North America, the works of Skoltz_Kolgen are recognized as a force in the media arts world. With the launch of the art/DVD box-set of the Silent Room project, Skoltz_Kolgen have crystallized the essence of their work and assure its long-lasting memory on an international scale.
As a solo artist, Dominique T Skoltz continuously manipulates the ephemeral wall between organic matter and data, between the intimate and the clinical. Propelled by new media, she moves simultaneously within various disciplines, occupying the space between “extended” cinema, photography, performance, installation and sound art. In sound/image synchronicity, the synergetic practice challenges the elasticity of time and hybrid forms of digital synesthesia. Because she is an intuitive creator, her corpus is based on intention and accident. Rebeca Raijman is Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Haifa, Israel. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on international migration (in Israel, Europe and the U.S.) with special emphasis on migrants’ modes of incorporation into host societies. She has published several articles on the topic of ethnic entrepreneurship among Mexican immigrants in Chicago, labor market outcomes of Jewish immigrants to Israel, non- Jewish and non-Palestinian labor migration in Israel, and public attitudes towards migrants and minorities in Israel and Europe (with special focus on Germany). She has conducted a comprehensive research regarding the emergence on new (migrant) ethnic minorities in Israel, the socio-political organization of undocumented migrant communities and the politics and policy of labor migration in Israel (including the policy of state, local governments and non- governmental organizations). In 2008 she published the book “Foreigners and Workers": The Political Economy of Labor Migration in Israel” co-authored with Adriana Kemp.
