The critic is he who can translate into another manner or a new material his impression of beautiful things. The highest as the lowest form of criticism is a mode of autobiography. Those who find ugly meanings in beautiful things are corrupt without being charming. This is a fault. Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope. They are the elect to whom beautiful things mean only beauty. There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written. That is all. The nineteenth century dislike of realism is the rage of Caliban seeing his own face in a glass. The moral life of man forms part of the subject-matter of the artist, but the morality of art consists in the perfect use of an imperfect medium. No artist desires to prove anything. Source text - English It is hard to find a more perfectly constructed novel than Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. The tale is perfectly balanced through the ingenious use of the framed narrative, with the story being revealed through the voices of Nelly Dean and Lockwood: who both add their own spin to the tale, coloured by their relation to the events and their personalities. Rarely has an author created such interesting characters in narrators, allowing their involvement to the story to be as important as the enigmatic characters of Heathcliff and Catherine. The novel benefits from its fast-paced plot, beginning as it was at the end, and never dwelling unnecessarily on excessive sentiment or allowing the story to become mawkish. The powerful love between Heathcliff and Catherine is dealt with beautifully and evokes a sense of union that goes beyond the physical, and indeed the grave. It is vital in reading this novel to appreciate the gothic element and see how Brontë uses this device to create a brooding atmosphere. The location of the story on the moor echoes Brontë’s own childhood and provides a domineering and barren setting for the events of the tale to unfold upon. The ghostly occurrences that take place inside the gothic pile of the Earnshaw’s family residence are mirrored in the pathetic fallacy of the surrounding moor land and yet are never allowed to become too extreme. This novel is deservedly a classic, and a compelling read that leaves a haunting memory upon the mind of the reader that lingers long after the final page is turned. Brontë cleverly creates mystery and intrigue around her characters and never lets her masterpiece slip into the stagnant waters of gloom; the ending is inspiring and adds to the memorable feel of the novel. Der Roman ist durch geschickte Verwendung von Rahmenhandlungen perfekt ausbalanciert: Nelly Dean und Lockwood erzählen, und ihre Schilderungen sind geprägt von ihrer eigenen Verwicklung in die Ereignisse und ihrer Persönlichkeit. Selten hat ein Autor derart interessante Persönlichkeiten als Erzähler gewählt, deren Beteiligung an dem Geschehen ebenso wichtig ist, wie die enigmatischen Charaktere von Heathcliff und Catherine selbst. Von Anfang bis Ende besticht der Roman durch seine temporeiche Handlung, hält sich niemals unnötig mit übertriebenen Sentimentalitäten auf oder wird gar rührselig. Die große Liebe zwischen Heathcliff und Catherine wird wunderschön geschildert und vermittelt das Gefühl einer Vereinigung, die über das Physische und sogar über den Tod hinausgeht. Beim Lesen dieses Romans ist es wichtig, das Gespenstische zu würdigen und zu sehen, wie Brontë es einsetzt, um eine unheimliche Atmosphäre zu schaffen. Das Moor als Schauplatz der Geschichte ist ein Widerhall aus Brontës eigener Kindheit und versetzt das Geschehen in eine überwiegend trostlose Stimmung. Source text - English INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION FOR THE XYZ BACTERIA FILTER The Bacteria Filter is to be installed between the Post Filter and the Faucet. This has to be done after the Reverse Osmosis System is fully working. Caution: Only install the Bacteria filter after flushing the system, i.e. when replacing filters or initial start up. To install, turn off the tank, and turn off the water supply to System. Then release the pressure by opening the faucet. Cut the tubing to the faucet and insert the tubes, by pushing them firmly into the bacteria filter fittings. After the installation, turn on the tank and the system, and let the water run through the filter for a few minutes. After that the Filter is ready to use. Dies darf erst ausgeführt werden, nachdem die Umkehrosmoseanlage komplett eingebaut und betriebsfähig ist. Achtung: Installieren Sie den Bakterienfilter immer erst, nachdem das System vollständig gespült wurde, z.B. bei einem Filterwechsel oder der ersten Inbetriebnahme. Vor der Installation drehen Sie zunächst den Tank ab und schließen die Wasserzufuhr zum System. Danach lassen Sie den Druck ab, indem Sie den Wasserhahn öffnen. Durchtrennen Sie den Schlauch zwischen Aktivkohlenachfilter und Wasserhahn und stecken Sie die zwei so entstandenen Enden des Schlauches fest in die Anschlussstücke des Bakterienfilters. Nach der Installation öffnen Sie den Tank und das System und lassen das Wasser einige Minuten laufen. Danach ist der Filter einsatzbereit.
