The final solution is to evolve new social and political forms for the medical profession and for medical care. And there are obstetricians joining in the effort to find these new forms for their profession. Maternity care needs turning around so that, instead of drifting away from physiology and from the social and cultural environment, the process moves toward respecting and working with nature and with the woman and family, turning control of medical care over to the people. For those who fear chaos, remember Churchill’s warning: democracy is the worst form of government until one considers the alternatives.
This turn around has started in places with local public committees deciding on health care policies and priorities---post- modern maternity care. Everything about pregnancy and birth----how it is perceived by society, how the pain of birth is endured by women, how birth is ‘managed’ by birth attendants---are highly cultural. Local control leads to empowerment of women which, in turn, leads to a stronger family and society---local women need to give birth in local waters. People have been swimming in the physiological, social and cultural primordial sea for a long, long time, can see the water, know where the sharks are and are adept at eventually finding their way forward to reclaiming humanized birth. | Translation - French

Course Description
This tutorial provides an overview of several policies that together comprise our Code of Ethics and Conduct. It focuses on corporate ethics and legal compliance--matters we want our employees to be familiar with. You'll learn to apply our Company's values to resolve work-related dilemmas, avoid legal pitfalls, and preserve our ethical corporate culture. Specific topics include conflicts of interest, protecting confidential information, fair business competition, and preventing harassment in the workplace. At the end of this course, you will be asked to complete a ten-question quiz. This will allow you to demonstrate what you have learned about our Code and the other important policies and laws that govern our industry and lay the foundation for XXX's continued success. Keep in mind that no code of conduct can cover every dilemma you may face. When you're unsure how to resolve a difficult situation, consult your supervisor, or a Human Resources or Law Department Representative.

XXX standards and practices
XXX has built its information policies around eight guiding principles. The first four are as follows:
Accuracy--a commitment to use reasonable procedures to ensure that information collected, used, and exchanged will be accurate and complete
Security--a commitment to use appropriate security measures for protecting information from unauthorized access, use, and disclosure

Confidentiality--a commitment to collect, use, and exchange information in accordance with confidentiality standards
The last four of our guiding principles are as follows:
Privacy--a commitment to self-regulation in recognition of expectations of privacy and our policy, and in accordance with leading industry standards
Responsiveness--a commitment to respond to privacy-related inquiries in a timely and accurate manner
Employee Education--a commitment to educate employees regarding information practices and the proper handling and use of information
Self-Auditing--a commitment to periodic auditing of internal activities to ensure adherence to established information practices, policies, and procedures
XXX's Information Practices Policy lists our information classification hierarchy to help you properly identify and handle information. It takes into consideration what form information takes, where it goes, and who is authorized to possess it. It details, for instance, how we use three sensitivity classification categories:
• Public General Use--information that has been specifically approved for public release
• Internal Use Only--information that is private and intended for use within XXX
• Confidential--information that is restricted or otherwise sensitive in nature and whose availability is to be limited to those with a legitimate business need for access
Within this last classification--Confidential--information is further categorized, as follows:
• Company Proprietary--such as aggregate reports and trade secrets. Access to this type of information needs to be cleared through a data steward.
• Customer Information--such as an order history, checking account numbers, and order-related social security numbers. Access also needs to be cleared through a data steward.
• Employee Information--such as employees' home phone numbers, home addresses, and medical benefit selections. Access to this type of information needs to be cleared through Human Resources.
• ELT/BD/Corporate--such as merger and acquisition plans and legal information protected by attorney-client privilege. This is the most sensitive information that exists at XXX-related companies and needs to be monitored and controlled at all times. Access needs to be cleared through the Executive Leadership team or a designee of it.

XXX a fondé sa politique en matière d’information sur huit principes directeurs. Voici les quatre premiers :
L’exactitude, soit l’engagement à employer des méthodes convenables et suffisantes pour s’assurer que les renseignements recueillis, utilisés et échangés sont exacts et complets.
La sécurité, soit l’engagement à recourir à des mesures appropriées pour prévenir l’accès, l’utilisation et la divulgation non autorisés de l’information.
La conformité, soit l’engagement à recueillir, utiliser et échanger des données dans le respect des lois applicables et des obligations contractuelles.
La confidentialité, soit l’engagement à recueillir, utiliser et échanger les renseignements en accord avec les normes de confidentialité.
Voici nos quatre derniers principes directeurs :
Le respect du domaine privé, soit l’engagement à l’autoréglementation en reconnaissance des attentes en matière de respect du domaine privé ainsi que celles exprimées dans notre politique, et en accord avec les normes de l’industrie de pointe.
La réceptivité, soit l’engagement à réagir aux requêtes relatives aux questions de respect du domaine privé en temps opportun et avec rigueur.
La formation des employés, soit l’engagement à donner de la formation aux employés sur les pratiques relatives à l’utilisation et au traitement adéquats de l’information.
L’autovérification, soit l’engagement à procéder à la vérification périodique des activités internes afin de s’assurer de leur conformité aux pratiques d’information, aux politiques et aux procédures établies.
Le document La politique des pratiques d’information établit une hiérarchie de classification des renseignements qui vous aidera à identifier et traiter adéquatement l’information. Il prend en compte la forme sous laquelle l’information se présente, où celle-ci doit aller et qui est autorisé à la détenir. On y expose comment, entre autres, utiliser notre méthode de classification selon trois degrés de sensibilité :
• « public et général » : l’information a été précisément approuvée pour sa diffusion publique ;
• « à usage interne » : l’information est privée et destinée à n’être utilisée qu’à l’intérieur de XXX ;
• « confidentiel » : l’information est à diffusion restreinte ou de nature sensible. En conséquence, sa disponibilité doit être réservée à ceux qui ont un besoin légitime d’y avoir accès dans un cadre d’affaires.
La dernière catégorie – soit « confidentiel » – se subdivise en quatre classes :
• l’information confidentielle d’entreprise : en font partie les sommaires et les documents relatifs au secret commercial. L’intendant d’actif informationnel doit au préalable autoriser l’accès à ce genre de renseignements.
• les renseignements sur les clients : il s’agit notamment des dossiers de commandes, des numéros de comptes-chèques et des numéros de sécurité sociale en rapport avec les commandes. L’intendant d’actif informationnel doit aussi autoriser au préalable l’accès à ce genre de renseignements.
• les renseignements sur les employés : il s’agit entre autres des numéros de téléphone et adresses domiciliaires, ou encore de leurs choix de protection d’assurance-maladie. C’est le service des ressources humaines qui autorise l’accès à ces renseignements.
• Équipe des cadres dirigeants, Conseil d’administration, Siège social : en font partie les projets de fusion ou d’acquisition ainsi que les renseignements légaux protégés par le secret professionnel liant l’avocat à son client. Il s’agit de l’information la plus sensible dont disposent les entreprises affiliées à XXX et celle-ci doit être surveillée et contrôlée en tout temps. L’autorisation d’accès à ces renseignements relève de l’équipe des cadres dirigeants ou d’une personne déléguée par celle-ci.
