XYZ CRM beabsichtigt den Aufbau einer Applikation, die den gesamten Prozess der Kundenzufriedenheitsanalyse abdeckt. Angedacht ist zunächst die Einführung in sechs Ländern, ein möglicher, späterer weltweiter Roll-Out wurde bereits diskutiert. Durch die Standardisierung wird ein signifikanter Fortschritt im Kundenzufriedenheitsmanagement des Bereiches erwartet.
Analysiert werden soll der Grad der Zufriedenheit der Kunden mit XYZ über alle relevanten Prozess hinweg. Darüber hinaus soll ein Vergleich der Zufriedenheiten mit den wichtigsten Mitbewerbern der einzelnen Geschäftsgebiete erfolgen.
Die von ABC im Folgenden vorgestellte Lösung wird alle Prozessschritte einer Kundenzufriedenheitsanalyse abdecken: von der Erhebung und Validierung der Kontaktdaten der Kunden über die Erstellung und Durchführung einer Online-Befragung sowie deren Analyse bis hin zu Handlungsempfehlungen und der Möglichkeit für ein computerunterstütztes Maßnahmenmanagement.
Die Ergebnisse der Befragung sollen in einer Online-Anwendung sichtbar sein und jederzeit auch in Form von PowerPoint-Präsentationen bereitgestellt werden können. Die Darstellung sollte dabei ähnlich zu den Ergebnissen der vorangegangenen Kundenzufriedenheitsanalysen erfolgen, wobei sie um eine sog. Headquarter-Sichtweise ergänzt werden. Die Ergebnisse sollen für alle relevanten XYZ-Mitarbeiter sichtbar sein, jedoch durch ein Berechtigungskonzept für verschiedene Gruppen eingeschränkt.
Ferner sollen sowohl das Management als auch die Kundenbetreuer die Möglichkeit zur Definition geeigneter Maßnahmen und deren Verfolgung erhalten. Der von ABC skizzierte Prozess und die darauf aufgebaute Anwendung ist so angelegt, dass auf Basis dieser Befragung problemlos weitere vergleichbare und valide Kundenzufriedenheitsuntersuchungen (z.B. jedes Jahr) aufgesetzt und integriert werden können.
| Translation - English 2 Project Objectives
XYZ CRM intends to set up an application that covers the entire customer satisfaction process. The initial plan is to first introduce it in six countries; a possible later worldwide roll-out has been discussed. A significant advancement in the group’s customer satisfaction management is expected to result from the standardization.
The degree of customer satisfaction with XYZ is to be analyzed across all the relevant processes. Furthermore, a comparison of the satisfaction with the most important competitors in the individual business areas is to take place.
The solution as proposed by ABC below covers all the process steps involved in a customer satisfaction analysis: From the data collection and customer contact data validation, over the creation and execution of an online survey as well the analysis thereof, to recommendations for action and the possibility of a computer-supported measures management.
The results of the survey should be visible in an online application and be made available in the form of a PowerPoint presentation at any time. At the same time, the depiction should be similar to that of the results of the previous customer satisfaction analyses, but also supplemented by a so-called “headquarters perspective”. The results are to be visible to all relevant XYZ employees, but with limited access for different groups as defined by an authorization concept.
Furthermore, the management as well as the customer care personnel are to be given the possibility of defining appropriate measures and tracking them.
The process as outlined by ABC and the application built up on this basis is designed in such a way that further comparable and valid customer satisfaction investigations (e.g. every year) can be added to and integrated.

2.2.1. Scannen
Scannen ist das Abtasten der Schriftvorlage durch den Scanner. Dabei wird im Computer ein digitales Bild der Vorlage erzeugt. Dieses Bild ist eine Matrix von schwarzen, weißen bzw. grauen Punkten. Im Gegensatz zu der über die Tastatur eingetippten Information ist ein Bild vom Computer jedoch nicht als Text verwertbar. Das Image muss zuerst in, für den Computer verständlichen Text umgewandelt - eben "gelesen" werden.
Alternativ zum Scannen, kann ein Bild auch durch Laden einer Bilddatei von einem Speichermedium in den Arbeitsspeicher gelangen.
2.1.4 Imagehandling - automatische Layoutanalyse
In vielen Fällen möchte man nicht die gesamte Vorlage bearbeiten, sondern es sind nur bestimmte Teile des Dokumentes von Interesse. XXX bietet Ihnen die Möglichkeit, mit entsprechenden Werkzeugen die eingescannte Originalseite in beliebigen Ausschnittsvergrößerungen darzustellen, Bilder zu rotieren oder der Fenstergröße anzupassen. Mit einer elektronischen Schere können unerwünschte Seitenteile entfernt oder gewählte Bereiche aus einer Zeitungsseite ausgeschnitten werden. Durch die automatische Layoutanalyse wird das Bild in Bereiche (Zonen) unterteilt. Innerhalb eines Dokumentes erkennt XXX Strukturen, wie Überschriften, Untertitel oder Textblöcke automatisch und setzt entsprechend solche Zonen. Der Inhalt dieser Zonen kann auf eine oder mehrere Zielseiten übertragen, neu zusammengestellt und gruppiert werden. Die Zonen werden sowohl für den Umbruch auf eine Zielseite, als auch als Lesezonen für die Texterkennung verwendet.
2.1.5 Texterkennung
Die Texterkennung von XYZ 3.0 vereint zwei unterschiedliche Arten der Texterfassung. Die Omnifont-Erkennung erlaubt eine schnelle Erkennung von oft wechselnden Vorlagen, jedoch mit einer etwas geringeren Erkennungsgenauigkeit. Zusätzlich kann das System trainiert werden, um für häufig verwendete Vorlagen eine spezielle Schriftbasis anzutrainieren, wodurch eine höhere Erkennungsgenauigkeit erreicht wird.

2.1.1. Scanning
Scanning is the “sensing” or optical analysis of an original document done by the scanner, thereby generating a digital image of the original document in the computer. This image is a matrix of black, white or grey points, respectively. In contrast to the information entered via the keyboard, an image in the computer cannot, however, be utilized as text. The image must first be converted into text that is comprehensible to the computer – that can be “read”.
As an alternative to scanning, an image can also be read into the random access memory by loading an image file from a storage medium.
2.1.2 Image Handling – Automatic Layout Analysis
In many cases one doesn’t want to work on the entire master, but only on certain parts of the document that are of interest. XXX provides you with the possibility of portraying the scanned original in any cut-out magnifications, rotating the images or adapting them to window size with appropriate tools. A pair of electronic scissors can remove undesirable lateral sections or cut out selected areas of a newspaper page. The automatic layout analysis divides an image into zones. XXX recognizes structures, such as headlines, subtitles or blocks of text within a document automatically and defines such zones accordingly. The content of these zones can be transferred to one or more target pages, be re-assembled and re-grouped. The zones are used for both the text wrapping (layout) on a target page as well as reading zones for the text recognition.
2.1.3 Text Recognition
The XYZ 3.0 text recognition feature combines two different types of text detection. Omnifont recognition permits quick recognition of frequently changing originals, however, with somewhat lower recognition precision. In addition, the system can be trained to recognize a particular font in frequently used templates, which results in increased recognition precision.

Grew up bi-lingually in Germany (ages 4-8, 10-13, and then as an adult) and USA as the offspring of a German mother and American father, educated primarily in the US, but worked in many different branches of industry in both countries, from California (University of California, Berkeley) via Wall Street (investment bank) to Hamburg. In most positions I used my bi-lingual skills and translated extensively, which explains my broad range of interests and diverse knowledge.
My first stab at an undergraduate degree (UC Berkeley) - in my home state - was in the fields of International Relations and Languages (German/French), but was cut short by marriage and relocation to Germany. There I worked at American Express, the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany, and Hill & Knowlton in various positions. Then I went back to college in Pennsylvania to finish my BA in Comparative Literature (focus on dramatic literature in French, German, and English). That's where I really learned to write, as a couple of professors took an interest in developing that skill. I also spent a year at the Universitaet Hamburg during that period, improving my German and French to academic level. (Unfortunately, I didn't keep up with the French.)
Then I moved to New York, and went to graduate school at NYU to continue studies in the theatre (didn't complete the MA, however, as paying rent AND private university fees in Manhattan was not doable over time), participated in some theatre productions and earned some money, too, working in various jobs at Der Spiegel, on Wall Street (Executive Assistant to a German investment banker) and a few others (I got around!), ending up back in Germany in 1985 to work on productions at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus and Thalia Theater in Hamburg (with directors Peter Zadek, Robert Wilson, and others not so famous).
After having a few great and fun years in the theatre in various roles (not acting, mostly involving research and translation), I decided to get serious and started in-house translating for an international management/personnel consulting business (specialized in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry) for more than a decade, but turned to freelancing as a translator and Business English and Intercultural Awareness trainer/coach in companies when the CEO retired and sold the company.
In late summer 2005 I shifted my emphasis from teaching to translating full-time, which is how I found ProZ. In the years of freelancing, I have become specialized in the areas specified above, mostly because those are the fields I know and like best. In spite of an obvious predilection for the performing arts, I have a strong affinity to business, particularly in the areas of marketing and market research, technology, computers and anything related to them or the internet, and have done a lot of translating in those fields, as well as in the others mentioned.
If one also includes the years I translated as an employee, my total experience comprises a LOT more than 18 years, more like 25+.
