I offer you my bicultural education and work experience (in Austria and the United States), 14 years experience as a translator and teacher, German as my native language, English as my second and main language since 1993, and true professionalism.

After earning my undergraduate degree at Salzburg University, in Political Science and Mass Communication Studies, I pursued my graduate studies in the United States, at Bowling Green State University, where I earned a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication, with an emphasis in Film (Master's Thesis: Music-Film Theory). Since 1998, I have worked as a translator and university instructor, in the United States of America. As a translator, I also worked in Austria, from August 2008 - May 2009. As an instructor at the University of Toledo, I taught German language courses and the courses "Modern German Culture" and "German Culture and Commerce" (the latter two taught in English).

What is a great translation?

A great translation is the result of a complex process during which the translator must decide how to best convey the source text so that the target audience will understand and appreciate it the same way the source audience does. This means the translator must understand the important characteristics of the source text and transfer them accurately and effectively into the target language. Only someone who is very competent in the subject field and in both languages, and has lived in both cultures, will achieve that.

In order to arrive at a great translation, I apply my extensive and unique knowledge of both languages and cultures, of many subject fields, and a keen interest in and love for my work, respect for the original writer and the source text, and an innate linguistic talent.
