About me

I was born in Romania and grew up in a bi-lingual family, speaking English and Hungarian. I also learned Romanian at a very young age. I started studying German at the age of 10. My love and passion for languages, grammar, linguistics and for the written word in general was unquestionable from very early on. I proceeded to take German, English and Hungarian classes intensively throughout high school. I then entered Babes-Bolyai University, Faculty of Letters, where I chose German as my major and English as my minor and ranked second in my class of approximately 250 students, preceeded only by a German native speaker. I also started studying Italian. After two years I moved to the United States and graduated with a major in German Language and Literature with a 4.0 average (out of 4.0).

Then I went on to earn my graduate degrees in law and business. Currently, I am an attorney licensed in New York State, Florida and Washington, DC. I also hold an MBA degree. Law school has not only greatly enhanced my analytical skills -- which are undoubtedly necessary for translation work -- but also sharpened my abilities to focus on accuracy and attention to detail when it comes to the spoken and written word. While I practiced law for a few years on a full time basis, my passion for languages has never relented. I was continuously studying Italian, one of the most beautiful languages I have encountered. I taught beginner and intermediate language classes in New York City. I started translating on a part time basis and then later became a part time attorney, focusing full time on my area of interest, i.e., translations and languages. I feel lucky because I do what I like to do most. My future goals include the translation of more literary works. Eventually, I want to pursue a Ph.D. in linguistics.
