Las actividades humanas, tanto en tierra como en el océano, están influyendo negativamente en los ecosistemas marino – costeros. Estas actividades amenazan la capacidad de estos ecosistemas para proporcionar importantes beneficios a la sociedad, como son la obtención de productos marinos abundantes y saludables, playas limpias, y la protección contra tormentas e inundaciones, entre otros. El manejo de recursos y ambientes marinos basado en el ecosistema, es un innovador enfoque de la gestión para hacer frente a estos desafíos. Bajo este enfoque, en lugar de contemplar un solo aspecto o recurso de forma aislada, el Instituto Nazca trata a las áreas de conservación como un instrumento de manejo en el cual se considera todo el ecosistema, incluyendo a los seres humanos como parte del medio ambiente. Para desarrollar estrategias que impliquen áreas de conservación, hemos trabajado en dos iniciativas: (1) estudios de identificación de vacíos y áreas prioritarias para la conservación de ecosistemas marino - costeros y (2) estudios específicos dentro de Áreas Marinas Protegidas (AMPs). | Translation - English
Human activities, on land as in the sea, have negative impacts on coastal marine ecosystems. These activities threaten the capacity of ecosystems to provide important benefits to society, production of healthy and abundant marine products, clean beaches, and the protection of coastal areas from storms and flooding, among other things. Management of resources and marine environments based on ecosystem processes is an innovative new focus in the struggle against these challenges. Based on this focus, as opposed to conceptualizing one single aspect or resource as an isolated phenomenon, NAZCA sees conservation areas as a management tool in which the entire ecosystem is considered, including human beings as a part of the environment. In order to develop strategies for conservation area management, we have worked on two initiatives: (1) studies that identify priority coastal marine areas for conservation and/or scientific study (gap analysis), and (2) specific studies within Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). | English to Spanish: Microgotas Respiratorias

A resident on droplet precautions should be given his meals in his apartment and have his participation in community activities limited in order to decrease the chance of spreading the illness or disease. Un residente con precauciones para transmisión por microgotas respiratorias debe recibir las comidas en su departamento y debe limitar su participación en las actividades comunitarias para así disminuir la posibilidad de propagación de la enfermedad. Ya que las microgotas no permanecen suspendidas en el aire, no se requiere manejo especial de aire y ventilación para prevenir su transmisión. |
