（Reported by Wang Xuefei） New England Journal of Medicine, a journal of international reputation, published in its recent issue Mortality Attributable to Smoking in China by Professor Gu Dongfeng from Fu wai Cardiovascular Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Science. In this article, professor Gu firstly reported the total deaths in China caused by smoking in 2005, as well as the corresponding deaths of cancers, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory diseases that were attributable to smoking.
Smoking is the second risk factor responsible for deaths world-widely. But in China, the detailed number of deaths from smoking has never been applicable. Nokia Network Management System/10 (NMS/10) products are part of the Nokia NMS family, which provides management for a network composed of Nokia’s telecommunications products. NMS/10 is an element-level management system, and can be used either for small transmission networks, or as part of the management solution for larger networks.
The primary function of NMS/10 is to collect alarms and performance data from the network devices that are managed by the NMS/10 agents and to present the alarm information to network operations staff. PM data can be post-processed using external tools.
Interfaces to integrate Nokia NMS/10 with other Nokia NMS products and to third party network management systems are included with the System Release. Configuration management of network elements is undertaken by using node managers.

Urinary obstruction caused by cervical carcinoma usually takes place in the upper segment. According to the data from abroad, the incidence is about 14.1 %～34.5 %, and the recurred patients are often complicated with obstruction in either side or both sides. The ureteral obstruction can involve one side or both sides, partly or completely. Bilateral complete obstruction will lead to anuria, which, if not relieved in time, will be a threat to life when uraemia occurs. Lateral complete obstruction will cause acute renal atrophy with lost function, namely, autonephrectomy. Revolutionary development has taken place in urinary surgery ever since the application of cistoscope. The instruments are being improved and the relevant techniques are being developed and used. As a result, more and more upper urinary tract diseases can be examined and treated under cistoscope by retrograde catheterization. Retrograde catheterization can be employed in urine collection for analysis, and in pelvis injection of medicines. In case of obstructive anuria, retrograde catheterization is indicated for urine drainage. However, difficulties are inevitable because of the specific anatomic and physiological characters as well as the pathological changes. If not properly handled, ureter will be injured in various forms such as mucosa splitting, pseudo-tunnel formation, perforation, or even more severe mucosa avulsion. Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease is the major cause of
morbidity and mortality in industrialized nations. The disease
is complex, and many factors singly or in combination
contribute to its etiology, including genetic predisposition,
hypercholesteremia (elevated cholesterol), hypertension, diabetes
mellitus, smoking, obesity, and stress. Atherosclerosis, the
condition whereby lipids accumulate in the artery wall, starts in
the first decade of life and progresses throughout life; its
severity is linked to the aforementioned risk factors. As the list
of risk factors indicates, cholesterol, and by extension, plasma
lipoproteins, have a major role in the process of atherogenesis.
The structure, synthesis, and metabolism of lipoproteins are
reviewed in this chapter along with their role as positive or
negative risk factors in atherosclerosis, particularly in early or
