Languages have always intrigued me and they continue to do so today. I grew up in the German speaking part of Switzerland, bilingual in German and French. I studied in Switzerland and England and completed my studies with a Masters in Dietetics.

For several years I worked as the head of the nutrition team in a well-known private clinic in Switzerland. I trained dieticians and clinic personnel in regards to dietetic aspects of patients' treatment with a focus on the specific nutritional needs of patients in the intensive care unit. During that time I also published a German book for patients with renal failures, currently in its 2nd edition. I instructed patients with special nutritional needs in German, French, English, and Italian. They were primarily patients who had cardiac bypass surgery, gastrointestinal surgery or cancer.

After years of gaining valuable clinical experience I opened a private practice for nutrition and dietetics. Patients referred to me by their primary care physicians suffered from obesity, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, high blood pressure, celiac disease, food intolerances, allergies, and anorexia. Athletes came to see me for specific advice regarding their diet before, during, and after a competitive event to improve their peak performance.

I relocated to the United States in 1997 and became a full-time freelance translator in 2005. The medical field continues to fascinate me. Since I worked in five different hospitals in Switzerland and have many years of clinical experience I have specialized myself in medical translations.

In the meantime I have translated

- instructions for clinical trials for the pharmaceutical industry
- summary of doctoral dissertation
- various articles about retinal implants
- articles published in medical journals (such as cardiac involvement in Fabry's disease)
- thousands of medical documents for Tricare Europe (US Army), the Social Security Administration and the Veterans Administration


Furthermore, I work as a proofreader/editor for various agencies and I am also a
Regular Contributor to "Beckers Abkürzungslexikon medizinischer Begriffe",
an essential dictionary for anyone working in the medical field. It contains medical abbreviations in German, French, and English:
