English to Russian: Information management
Source text - English
The term 'information and communication technology' covers a range of technologies - computers, communications, audio, and video - which developed separately but which have now converged towards the point where the technologies that support computers, telephones, and televisions are highly interconnected. Our interest here is not in the technicalities of how this is done, nor in the scope of ICT in general, but in its application to the management of information.
ICT is not essential to good information management. Information needs to be managed - and can be managed - whether you have computers or not. An organisation which has thought through what information it needs and how it can be used will be far in advance of one using computers to calculate every possible permutation of passing data - without knowing why. ICT can consume massively more time and money than you originally budgeted for, without producing startling benefits. One study of UK business use of ICT has found dissatisfaction with ICT systems running at between 80 and 90 per cent. Other research has suggested that, despite huge investment, ICT improved the productivity of the average office worker over the whole of the 1990s by an insignificant 4 per cent.

Oxidative stress

We breathe in an incredible 15 cubic metres of air each day. Within the air that we breathe there are many factors that can affect our lungs, such as cigarette smoke, air pollution and infections. These factors can damage our lungs through a process called "oxidative stress".

As part of the process of generating energy from oxygen by the cells in our body, we naturally produce chemicals called free radicals. Sometimes the body's immune system's cells purposefully create them to neutralise viruses and bacteria. However, environmental factors, such as pollution, cigarette smoke and infections, can also give rise to free radicals.

If too many of these free radicals build up in our bodies they can damage cells, tissues or organs, and it is this process that is termed oxidative stress.

While they're still filling up, you're up and away in a Falcon 900EX.
The most versatile, fuel-efficient plane in its class — by design.
Its three engines handle small airports and big oceans with ease.
It hops from city to city, picking up passengers, then leaps across a continent — without having to refuel.
And it sips fuel like a smaller jet. Nearly a ton less than others in its class on a 1,000 nm trip — nearly three tons on long trips — yet you give up nothing in comfort and elegance.
Maybe that's why today's tough-minded, tech-savvy CEOs are calling our Falcon 900EX and our new — even more efficient — 900DX:
"The Green Machines.”
