| Translation - English Let‘s look at NTT DoCoMo’s new Auto-GPS service, which was introduced with the handsets of winter 2009. Assuming that the function has been set beforehand, the handset’s position is measured every 5 minutes, the information is then sent to the network and information related to the position can be received.
What NTT DoCoMo president Ryuji Yamada had promised - to develop new services, which support customer’s individual behavior - has finally started to become reality. How has the service “i-concier” evolved by combining it with Auto-GPS? We quickly checked it out.
Last train alert
Expectations are that the “i-concier” has become even more useful with the added feature of Auto-GPS, measuring the (handset’s) position automatically every 5 minutes.
First of all, corporate employees, who have a lot of overtime work and after-work drinking parties, are glad about the “last train alert”. This is a service where one sets beforehand the closest station from home and then turns the last train alert on. If during night time the Auto-GPS finds that the user is away from the closest station from home, the “i-concier” will tell the user at what time one has to take which train in order to properly arrive at the station.
