La traduction est un véritable plaisir pour moi. Bien que traducteur professionnel depuis six ans seulement, j’évolue dans le monde du multilinguisme depuis plusieurs décennies, notamment en anglais et en allemand.

Je possède des références en anglais, en allemand, en latin et en tagalog, auprès d’une dizaine de particuliers et de maisons de traduction de divers pays, ainsi que des références pour des relectures de traductions en anglais et en latin.

Mon problème est ma disponibilité, car traducteur n’est pas mon premier métier. Je travaille comme bibliothécaire. A mon grand désappointement, je n’ai comme plage horaire libre pour la traduction que quelques heures le soir après ma vie de famille, et un peu plus pendant les vacances.

Mon rendement en traduction est de deux pages format A4 à l’heure en anglais, une et demi en allemand. J’ai traduit surtout des textes relatifs à la sécurité, au tiers-monde, politiques, historiques ou juridiques. A ma surprise, il m’est arrivé de donner satisfaction dans des traductions qui ne relèvent pas du tout de mes spécialités (ex. : traduction d’une notice médicale). En fait, je fonctionne bien plus à la motivation qu’à l’expérience !

Si j’effectue des traductions, c’est pour produire du travail d’excellente qualité. Je respecte les délais impartis. Par contre, je n’aime pas travailler dans l’urgence. Un texte correctement traduit nécessite du recul. Cela, le client doit le comprendre. Si vous privilégiez la qualité de la traduction par rapport à sa rapidité d’exécution, alors je suis votre traducteur !

Je tiens à apporter une précision importante : je n'accepte pas d'effectuer des tests de traduction gratuits.

Je garde coûte que coûte le contact avec l’univers de la traduction et j'ai l’intention d’élargir mes activités au doublage de voix et à l’interprétariat, bien que je sois novice dans ces activités. C’est ainsi que j’ai participé à la 5è conférence Proz.com d'interprètes et de traducteurs (Budapest, Hongrie, avril 2007), à la journée de la Traduction et de l’Interprétariat de l’INALCO (30 avril 2009), puis à la 6è Conférence internationale de Proz marquant le 10è anniversaire de l’association (Ohrid, Macédoine, juillet 2009). J’ai organisé un powwow de traducteurs (Clermont-Ferrand, novembre 2010), participé à la 1ère conférence internationale Proz de Paris (décembre 2010), organisé un autre powwow à Montigny-le-Bretonneux en 2011 et pris part à des conférences Proz en ligne tout au long de cette année.

Translation is a true pleasure for me. Although I have been working as a professional translator for six years only, I evolve in the world of multilingualism for several decades especially in English and in German. I also learnt Latin during four years, Tagalog during three years and have foundations in Spanish.

I have professional references in English, German, Latin and in Tagalog, at a dozen individual clients and houses of translation in various countries, as well as translation proofreadings references in English and in Latin.

My problem is my availability, because translator is not my first job. I work as a librarian. In my big disappointment, I have only some daily hours free for translation in the evening after my family life, and a little more during my vacation.

My output in translation is two A4 pages per hour in English, one and half in German. I especially translated texts related to security, to Third World, to politics, to history or lawish texts. It was a surprise to me, that I sometimes gave contentment in translations which raise my specialities in no way (eg: translation of a medical notice). In fact, I much more work in motivation than in experience!

If I perform translations, it is in order to produce a high quality work. I respect the allowed time. On the other hand, I do not like to work in emergency. A correctly translated text requires detachment. The customer must understand it ! If you favour translation quality in comparison with its fastness of execution, then I am your translator!

I will not accept free translation tests.

I keep in touch at all costs with the world of translation. Although I am beginner in these activities, I intend to enlarge my activities in voice dubbing and in interpreting. I participated in the 5th Proz international Conference for interpretes and translators (Budapest, Hungary, April 2007), in Translation and Interpreting INALCO Day (30th April, 2009), then in the 6th international Proz Conference celebrating the 10th birthday of the association (Ohrid, Macedonia, July 2009), organized the 1st powwow for Proz translators in Auvergne (Clermont-Ferrand, November 2010), participated in the 1st international Proz Conference in Paris (December 2010), organized another powwow in Montigny-le-Bretonneux (Yvelines, France), and participated in several Proz conferences online all along this year.
