Plusieurs alliances paraissent théoriquement possibles dans le futur parlement régional au vu de ces résultats: une coalition SPD avec les Verts, une "grande coalition" (CDU/SPD), une alliance SPD-Verts-Linke ou encore SPD-Verts-FDP.¨¨ | Translation - English Not having been re-elected, the coalition of liberal-conservatives lead by Mrs. Merkel in Berlin since October would lose their de facto majority in the Bundesrat, the high chamber of Parliament that represents the ¨Länder¨ The german chancellor will thus be forced to seek out a compromise with the Social-Democratic opposition to make her big political decisions pass. In light of these results, several alliances appear theoretically possible in the future regional parliament: an SPD coalition with the Greens, a ¨large coalition¨ (CDU/SPD), an alliance SPD-Greens-Linke, or even SPD-Greens-FDP. | More Less | | Years of translation experience: 1. I work in the language pairs: Spanish to English and French to English. I was born in Paris, France, and grew up in Calgary, Canada; both French and English are my native languages.
I have a Bachelor of Science in physics (Texas A&M 2008) and specialize in technical or scientific translations. Having studied advanced maths, thermodynamics, statistics, chemistry, mechanics, etc, I am very comfortable with abstract scientific concepts in a way few translators are.
Some projects recently completed:
FR to ENG
- Translation of technical engineering proposal regarding the signalling and power systems for new railway line in Algeria.
- Translation of petition from a recognized French monument restorer to the Villa Medici.
- Transcription/Translation of audio tapes of an interview with a prominent French telecommunications CEO.
- Transcription/Translation of interviews for Haiti disaster relief NGO.
- Translation of a divorce decree document from the Republic of Guinea.
- Translation of a press dossier for a project involving the stabilization of the Pointe du Hoc cliff, a WWII historical site in Normandy, France, maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission.
- Translation of detailed spatial planning / geomatics CV
SP to ENG
- Translation of engineering proposal regarding installations and facilities for a new metro line in Tel Aviv.
- Translation of a detailed civil engineering CV.
- Subtitling for “Aloha Uruguaii” documentary, which won prizes at film festivals in Hawaii and Australia.
- Translation of website for Uruguayan leather handbag designer Sabrina Tach.
- Translation of American Express cardholder feedback from Argentina, Mexico and Spain. (Large volume)
- Translation of Spanish Royal Decree regarding the technical requirements for gaming activities
English proofreading/editing
- Proofreading of an official letter by an Egyptian Charity Organization to the U.S. Government.
- Post-editing of SP>ENG machine translations for bank software programming guides (large volume)
Although I ended up getting a degree in physics, my aptitude and heart were always directed towards creative writing and journalism. Now I've dedicated my life to traveling the world searching for good waves to surf, and writing professionally.
If you look closely at my CV, you will notice that I do not have a degree in translation, and that I have only been translating for about a year and a half. Don't let this fool you! I have very strong language skills, and provide translations that are as good or better than those of many highly experienced translators. In fact, I guarantee that you will be impressed with my work; if you are not, I won't charge you!
Although technical translations are my forte, I charge a competitive rate for a high-quality translation of any kind of material: translation/transcription of audio files, advertisements, an important letter, movie scripts, websites, anything. I am available to work nights and weekends, and I am organized and dedicated. I am also available for simultaneous interpreting in Chile, Argentina or Uruguay.
I am also specialized in translation from Uruguayan and Argentine Spanish to English in a way few gringos are! Having lived with Uruguayos and Argentinos for over five years, and now having lived in both Uruguay and Argentina, I have an intimate feel for this South American flavor of Spanish, with its colorful language and wonderful idioms. Che, boludo... cebame un mate!
I really appreciate and understand the importance of maintaining the flavor of the translated text, as well as attempting to transmit the cultural subtleties of meaning.
