More Less | | Wire transfer, Check | Sample translations submitted: 1 | English to German: Translation of Auction FAQs | Source text - English What is a "maximum bid amount"?
Your maximum bid amount is the highest price you are willing to pay for an item. You should determine beforehand the most you are really willing to pay for an item and then enter a single bid at that amount in the Bid Amount field. An early bid supported by a high maximum bid amount can make you a winner! Your maximum bid amount (if you are a current high bidder) will not be shown to other bidders until after the auction closes. The goal when using SmartBid is to win an item at the lowest successful price. To do so, you must be the bidder who placed the highest maximum bid at auction close. The lowest successful price may not necessarily be the maximum bid amount you submitted to win the auction, unless there was a tie. Typically, the lowest successful price is the next highest bidder's maximum bid amount plus the stated bid increment.
How are winning bids determined?
In most auctions, a number of identical items are offered for sale at the same time. When the auction closes, the highest bidders win the available items at the actual bid price. Bids are sorted in order of price, quantity, and then time. If bids are tied for price, the buyer who has bid on the larger quantity of items wins. If a tie still exists, the earlier of the bidders wins. | Translation - German Was ist ein „Maximalgebot”?
| More Less | | Master's degree - Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh | | Years of translation experience: 6.
