About me

I am a non-practising English Solicitor, now working as a freelance French to English translator specializing in legal, finance and business texts. I continue to work closely with English, French and US law firms. I am currently consulting for French law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel.

I have lived and worked in France a number of times over the past 20 years, including two stints with English law firms in Paris. In January 2005, my husband and I bought property in south-west France, which we visit regularly. We hope to live there permanently one day.

During my training contract, I spent six months in the Paris office, working with a bilingual partner, who specialised in aviation finance. I was responsible for producing the highest quality legal memoranda and correspondence in French, as well translating loan and other supporting documentation.

Oct 1991 – Oct 1992
Office Manager
Church & Church Solicitors, Paris

Working within the offices of Bureau Francis Lefebvre, I worked with the managing partner in setting up the firm’s Paris office and providing legal assistant support. This include preparing for an arbitration under the ICC rules which required the translation from French to English and from English to French of the documents being laid before the tribunal. I worked very closely with a French avocat to ensure the highest quality translations.
