I am currently studying an MA Translation at London Metropolitan University which is part of the European Masters. I also achieved a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Translation and Interpreting Studies at the University of Salford (graduated 2011).
This month I begun working as a volunteer translator for the online US based news website worldmeets.us which specialises in collating articles related to the United States.
I have also been signed up to the translation company Imprimatur who have agreed to contact me in the future for potential project work.
I am currently a student member of the ITI and I regularly make use of both ITI and proZ in order to help me improve my translation skills.
My degree allowed me to spend 5 months each in both Spain and Portugal on study placements, during which I made the most of the opportunity to practise and improve my language skills. Having returned, I am continuously attempting to improve these language skills by means of practise translations. Furthermore, I continuously strive for further involvement within the translation industry in the form of webinars, articles and other educational material.
My experience within translation is within the realm of academia; I have translated a variety of texts throughout my studies including four technical texts within my final year at university. I am currently undertaking a 1,500 word technical translation as part of my MA and next year I will be asked to translate a highly technical, 3,000 word text. The results of this latter translation may be counted toward two of the IoL exams.
The rates I have quoted are negotiable and I am willing to work flexibly.
