Born in Manchester, England, Julian Evans studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with John Wilson and the late Polish pianist Ryszard Bakst. He later worked with Maria Curcio in London and Aline Gualino in Germany. In 1984 he became the youngest-ever winner of the Dudley International Piano Competition, which launched his international career, comprising of over 100 concerts a year. Following his London debut at the Wigmore Hall, Malcolm Hayes of the London Times reported: "let us welcome a remarkable and intensely musical talent."
Now resident in Germany, he pursues an extensive career on the continent and has already appeared in all the major European venues including Berlin Philharmonie, Kongresshalle Lucerne, Riga Philharmonie, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Beethoven haus Bonn, Dresden Frauenkirche, Berlin Konzerthaus am Gendarnmarkt. In Great Britain he has appeared on numerous occasions performing concerts at the Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, St. John's Square, Usher Hall (Edinburgh), Royal Concert Hall (Glasgow), Bridgewater Hall (Manchester):

" Technically the complex solo part (Rachmaninov/ Piano Concerto 3) seemed to offer not the slightest difficulty for Julian Evans, the complete mastery and phenomenal tempo gave impressive proof of the tremendous physical, emotional and psychological stamina of this pianist of the future, who possesses such a modest and natural presence on stage.”
Since theses performances he has established himself as one of the most important pianistic talents today appearing regularly as soloist with all the important German orchestras – with a repertoire of over 40 piano concerti. Following concerts as soloist with the Darmstadt Symphony Orchestra the Frankfurt Allgemeine Newspaper wrote May 2005:
”In the demanding solo part he elicited and coaxed every imaginable colour out of his instrument dispatching the complex solo part with transcendental virtuosity and was awarded a stunning and sustained thunderous ovation.”
His frequent broadcasts for BBC Radio 3, German television and radio included a live broadcast of the Beethoven concertos with the Moscow Symphony orchestra and in October 2003 ESA the German Space Agency invited Julian Evans to give a rectal to coincide one hour prior to the launch of their rocket Smart 1, broadcast live by satellite world-wide. He was subsequently described in the English spectator magazine as “Human Genius.”
He is also rapidly becoming a prolific recording artist, and has recorded extensively for Hyperion records, La Vergne Classics and most recently for Organum Classics featuring may solo works and concertos of Rachmaninov, Ravel and Tchaikovsky. His debut Liszt recording for Organum Classics drew sensational reviews and in the February 2004 edition of the German CD magazine FONO FORUM the following was reported: “Staggering manual facility – taste and solidity of style, but above all he has powerfully reinforced that which he promised some years back – namely that he belongs to the very top echelons of the greatest pianists.”
In 2005/6 season he performed extensively in Europa, performing in Cannes Festival, Dresden, Leipzig, Hamburg and Munich, etc.

Dall'epoca di queste esecuzioni Evans si è imposto come uno dei più importanti talenti pianistici di oggi, esibendosi regolarmente come solista con tutte le orchestre tedesche importanti – con un repertorio di oltre 40 concerti per pianoforte. Nel maggio 2005, dopo i concerti solistici con l'Orchestra sinfonica di Darmstadt il quotidiano Frankfurt Allgemeine ha scritto:
”Nell'esigente partitura solistica ha suscitato ed evocato dal suo strumento ogni colore immaginabile consegnando la complessa parte solistica con virtuosismo trascendentale, ed è stato premiato da una straordinaria tonante e sostenuta ovazione”.
I suoi frequenti interventi su BBC Radio 3 e alla televisione e alla radio tedesche hanno incluso una trasmissione dal vivo dei concerti di Beethoven con l'Orchestra Sinfonica di Mosca, e nell'Ottobre 2003 l'Agenzia spaziale tedesca ESA ha invitato Julian Evans per un recital durante l'ultima ora del conto alla rovescia per il lancio del razzo Smart 1, trasmesso dal vivo per satellite in tutto il mondo. Successivamente il pianista fu descritto nella rivista inglese The Spectator come “Human Genius.”
Julian Evans sta anche divenendo un prolifico artista discografico, ed ha registrato moltissimo per Hyperion, La Vergne Classics e recentemente per Organum Classics, con numerosi brani e concerti solistici di Rachmaninov, Ravel e Tchaikovsky. La sua prima registrazione lisztiana per Organum Classics ha ottenuto recensioni sensazionali, e l'edizione febbraio 2004 della rivista tedesca FONO FORUM ha riferito: “Una sbalorditiva facilità manuale – gusto e solidità di stile; ma soprattuto ha confermato con forza quanto aveva promesso qualche anno fa – ossia che appartiene al primissimo rango dei pianisti più grandi”.
Nella stagione 2005-2006 ha dato numerosi concerti Europa, esibendosi al Festival di Cannes, a Dresda, a Lipsia, ad Amburgo e a Monaco di Baviera, ecc.

Back in Italy, I have been introduced to the international TV business market, and I have worked for a few years as a TV programs acquisition and sales manager dealing with producers, distributors and TV stations worldwide on a daily basis.
