|Same day Translation +Subedit of Breaking News about serious flooding in Senegal|
I translated and sub-edited this breaking news post about serious flooding in Senegal which left 18 dead. My translation was turned around swiftly and accurately, I also sub-edited my translation, ensuring it went live on Global Voices Online the same day as the original article. This meant this breaking news item about a disaster in Africa was available to the English-speaking world the same day as the French.

Global Voices Online: Jane translations have been flawless and always delivered on time. We also appreciate her competent eyes when contributing as subeditor. In addition to these, her friendly manner and professional, caring approach to work make her a real treasure.

|Translation of Breaking News about Barack Obama on Global Voices Online|
This was a project with a super quick turnaround. I completed it in less than two hours, and also did a lot of sub-editing as I performed the translation. This ensured the post went live online on November 7, 2012, the day the original French post was written. This in turn ensured it was highlighted on the front page of the Global Voices website as Breaking News, the day after President Obama's re-election. The post was reviewing Obama's relationship with African nations during his first term of office, and speculating on possible directions he will take over the next four years.
Journalism, Government / Politics, Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.

1,2,4-trimethylXXXXXXXX-5-one (I) is a white solid (mp 32°) which slowly degrades at room temperature in a complex mixture. Chromatography over neutral alumina (CHCl3 -EtOH 95:5) resulted in isolation of three different crystalline products (II. mp xxx°; III. mp yyy-zzz°; IV. mp aaa-bbb°).
Compounds III and IV were also obtained by chromatography of the residue from distillation of XXXXXXone I.
Table I contains the main data from the NMR, IR, UV and mass spectra of compound II.
The first intense peak in the mass spectra of these compounds is found at m/e=126 which corresponds to the molecular ion of the heterocyclic parent (I).
The NMR spectrum shows 3 singlets of the same intensity whichever solvent is used (CDCl3, CD3OD, DMSO-d6, C6D6, C5D5N, CD3NO2, TFA).
A similar NMR spectrum was observed by XXXXX et al.(3) for the only product isolated during synthesis of 1,2,5-trimethylXXXXXXXX-4-one. These authors believed this compound could be a mesoionic form. The presence of two compounds of very similar structure (see Table II) allows us to exclude the presence of such a form.
