About me
I am a Freelance French ‹–› English Translator based in Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada). My specializations include legal translations, translations in the service and tourism industry (hotels and restaurants mostly), as well as in the arts such as architecture and photography.

I was born and raised in Southern France, but also lived for about a year in Scotland (in 2008-2009), and I have been a Permanent Resident of Canada since June 2009, living in Vancouver these past three years. The diverse natures of these environments has led to my developing a keen understanding of society in general, and more specifically, of French, Scottish, Canadian and American cultures – an understanding which would be a great asset to the professional field of translation.

I am fluent in French (my mother tongue) and English. In France, I graduated with a General Law Bachelor's degree from the Law University of Aix-en-Provence, as well as with an English Literature Diploma. In December 2012, I graduated with a Translation Certificate from the Université de Saint-Boniface (Winnipeg, MB, Canada) in the French/English pair.
My short term goal is to sign up as a STIBC member, and then move on to be certified by this organization.

I am meticulous and committed to respecting deadlines. Moreover, I excel at dealing with stressful situations.
Please contact me as I would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Elsa T. Chesnel
