About me

English to Japanese Translator with Solid Professional Translation Experience, Solid Japanese Writting Skills, Versatile Skill Set, Strong Business Background, and International Experience

Who is "ejprotan"?

I'm a full-time English > Japanese translator with solid professional experience in business translation, and am currently based in Osaka, Japan. I used to live in Illinois and Oregon, USA. I am a native speaker of Japanese who was born and raised in Japan, and also educated in both the United States and Japan. To prove my professionalism, I'm also a member of ATA (American Translators Association).

Strength as a translator

My strength is that for several years I had worked as a business person in both the US and Japanese corporations where I was able to learn the ways they do businesses in their corporate settings. As I dealt with a large number of Japanese clients, end-customers, and business partners through my career, I've come to recognize how important it is to adapt an appropriate writing style depending on target audiences. I have solid and practical Japanese writing skills, especially in business writing.

Academic background

In addition to my career experience in business, I studied business administration, accounting, corporate finance, marketing, business law, operational management, and other business related-subjects in the US higher educational institution. I also hold a law degree from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, where I also took some basic Spanish language courses which led me to visit Spain several times as a tourist.

Translation experience

Speaking of my professional experience in English to Japanese translation, I initially started my translation career focusing on financial and legal translation, taking fully advantage of my knowledge acquired from learning at the US university. In the course of my working as a Japanese freelance translator for several years, however, I have come to translate texts of other subject matters such as marketing, tourism, online media, foods and drinks, education, art, etc. At some point, I also decided to work as an in-house translator in a major US corporation to learn from other colleagues. With all the translation experiences I've gained, now I have been able to produce a solid Japanese translation for various kinds of English texts. In essence, I consider myself being a quite versatile translator who can achieve higher level of accuracy in translating various kinds of English texts into Japanese that is natural enough for the targeted readers.
