About me
Dear seeker of foreign markets,

let me tell you what I believe is a good translation. There are two sides to every coin, but there are three sides to every translation. You, your audience & me.

You decide about what you want your audience, your target group to hear, what you want them to remember and what impression you want to leave.

The audience either understands what you have to say, or will see you as a foreigner unskillfully speaking in their native tongue which they are so proud of.

I make sure the former outcome happens.

In the past I worked as a court and Police interpreter and now I'm focusing on translating and providing language education.

Huge projects of more than 100,000 words, as well as long term continuing translations all really come down to establishing a mode of speech with the reader and then maintaining that understanding.

I work on a Windows PC with an office suite from both Microsoft and OpenOffice.org. As for CAT, I use Trados TagEditor in conjunction with MultiTerm and Synergy to manage projects.

I live in the beautiful capital city of Prague, with a view of the highest tower built in the Czech Republic right outside of my window. I consider myself reasonably romantic, if you allow this oxymoron, and thus constantly discover new inspiration for new phrases for new markets.

Not all translations require an artistic linguist, for the rest, there's me.

Kind regards,

Lukas
