| Translation - English Your honor,
I do not know if my contacting you is appropriate or if it contradicts standard procedure, but I am resolved to write to you. I hope that the reasons for my writing will become clear to you upon reading this letter.
I was born in 1954 to a multi-ethnic family. My father, D. K., an Uzbek by nationality, was born of an Uzbek father and a Tatar mother. My mother, F. I. is Russian. Mixed families were once the pride of the country and were regarded as a great achievement in the advancement of society. I likewise was proud of my origins. Questions of nationality, or more correctly of national differences, were never of any importance to me. So, when I reached a mature age, I married a Russian woman. But in the years following Uzbekistan's independence, the object of my pride became the object of suffering for me personally and for my family.
