Having lived in Norway as a British national for over 25 years, I am currently working as a Norwegian>English translator in connection with Bergen City Council's programme for asylum seekers and immigrants in Norway. This covers all aspects of Norwegian culture and society. Consequently, I have gained immense knowledge about Norwegian public administration, laws and immigration. As a qualified public sector interpreter I also interpret in court and for the health and social services. Additionally, I carry out assignments for the private sector and I am proficient in most fields.

With 8 years' experience as a public/private sector interpreter/translator, I have undertaken thousands of hours of interpreting work and written translation assignments, and for the last two years I have specialised in medical translations through my collaboration with an international American company.

I am also a qualified English and Religion teacher having gained my teacher certificate at the University of Bergen in 2008. Prior to this I completed an honours degree at the same university. My subjects were English Language/Literature, Psychology and Comparative Religion with preliminary exams in Philosophy, Phonetics & Linguistics and Logic.I completed an adult education course at sixth form college in Norway to gain the university entrance requirements. Furthermore, I have completed a 1-year course in public sector interpreting at the University of Bergen (Norway). This course was in conjunction with the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration and focused on the code of conduct,law terminology and medical terms.

As a person I have a strong drive to achieve the goals that I set myself, and in translation I aim for the best possible equivalence and production of high-quality work. This includes meeting deadlines and presenting documents in a professional manner.
