My name is Sophia Troumpeta and I am a native Greek speaker. However, I have lived (studied and worked) in the UK for more than ten years and I feel that I am as close to the English language and culture as I am to Greek.

I have studied subjects such as Politics, History and Economics. Plus, I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.

I have extensive work experience in the fields of Marketing, Travel & Tourism and Education in both Greece and the UK, which means that I have acquired significant terminology background. Furthermore, while I was working in Greece my wide-ranging and deep knowledge of the English language and culture was highly sought after and, apart from my Marketing duties, there was always a need for my translation abilities (English-Greek and Greek-English).

I have translated various texts, most notably in the following fields:

I have just finished my studies for a Master’s Degree in Applied Translation at the University of Leeds. I decided to study Translation at a Postgraduate level because I wanted to have a solid theoretical and practical background that would help me in pursuing a career in this field. Furthermore, I was trained in some of the most popular CAT tools, such as SDL Trados 2007 and Déjà Vu X.

My language pairs are English-Greek and Greek-English for translation, proof reading and localisation.
