It becomes apparent then that one’s diet affects the mind and that the mind affects, in many ways, one’s diet and nutrition.
If, for example, one becomes more irritable and emotionally disturbed, his eating habits are very likely to become more erratic.
Not only may he fail to take meals on time, skipping some entirely, but out of nervousness, restlessness, or simply a lack of awareness, he may overeat or he may eat too often.
As the mind becomes disturbed, on loses touch with the subtle signals that cue him to what is appropriate to eat and when.
Poor dietary regulation leads to poor intake of nutrients and deficiencies which in turn make one more irritable and mentally and emotionally disturbed.
The result sounds like the classical “vicious circle”
Unfortunately, this cycle is not merely circular.
A circular process would show no net change, for better or worse.
Actually, however, there is often a gradual but definite worsening, a sort of building crescendo of emotion, unbalance and erratic living habits with poor dietary practices.
The result, instead of a circle, is a downward-moving spiral.

Eine nährstoffarme Diät führt zu einer geringen Aufnahme an Nährstoffen und ruft somit Mangelkrankheiten hervor, die dann wiederum für Unruhe, und Verhaltungsstörungen sorgen.
Dieses Resultat wird somit als den klassischen Teufelskreis bezeichnet.
Doch leider kann man diesen Kreis nicht nahezu mit etwas zirkulärem vergleichen.
Was immer auch geschieht, ein zirkulärer Ablauf würde keinen Änderungslauf nehmen.
Jedoch belegt die Tatsache, dass bei einer schlechten Ernährungsweise, eine oft langsam zunehmende und definitive Verschlechterung eintritt; ein aszendierendes Aufbauen von Emotionen, gestörtem Gleichgewicht und erratischen Lebensgewohnheiten.
Das Endresultat, bekommt anstelle des Kreises eine abwärts-bewegende Spirale.
