I am a Swiss German translator who has worked in the language business for almost 20 years: in Switzerland as a scientific copy-writer, after moving to Spain in 1993 as an editor and translator in the tourist sector, and, since 2006, as a full-time freelance translator.

My formal background is that of a biologist, but I soon discovered my writing skills, completed several courses in journalism, PR and copy-writing and began to write for environmental organizations and publications.

Once in Spain, I edited during a decade the local Tourist Board’s trilingual magazines and guidebooks, as well as a German newspaper. During all this time translation was a natural extension of my journalistic work.

In 2006, eventually, I decided to focus on translation and to complete my hands-on experience with a master in the translation of specialized texts (tourism and health care). Ever since, I have worked as a full-time freelance translator.

At present I am translating mainly tourism publications and web sites (my traditional field), as well as PR, marketing and training materials in the IT sector (I am an Apple Macintosh user since 1985).

My strengths include attention to detail, creativity, high language skills, structured thinking and the gift to put complex ideas into simple, comprehensible words. All of this respecting confidentiality and meeting deadlines.
