| Translation - English “Public Art” and “Street Art”
“Forms of street art” This is an innovative project aimed at the promotion of XXX’s artists and their art. It is also of international interest because it is linked with the diffusion of public contemporary art expression. Public Art hit English speaking countries in the 60s and today has arrived in Italy, although only in the more progressive circles. Public Art and Street Art is made in places that are far from those usually associated with art, i.e. public urban areas such as town squares and parks, streets, airports, train stations, underground stations, and also suburban areas such industrial sites. It provides an opportunity to portray art in urban settings and, in doing so, makes it more accessible to the general public by making art a part of the public and the public a part of art. The observer can fully interact with street art. By placing a work of art in any urban setting, its meaning is transmitted to the public around it and, in turn, the public gives meaning to the work of art. Street Art is a way of engaging the general public by making contemporary art a daily reality and rendering it more valuable, not only aesthetically, but also economically.
