According to experts from China Electrical Equipment Industry Association (CEEIA), motors with a power of more than 5MW are large motors in China, with almost all of their voltage levels being high voltages. Moreover, they are mainly used in industries such as metallurgical and chemical.
Production-to-sales is the leading production mode in China’s large motor industry. The total output of large motors was about 5,000MW in 2004. Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) said on Friday it will spend about $30 million over the next two years to create a wholly owned subsidiary in China to expand and consolidate its operations in the country.
The main office of the holding company, Advanced Micro Devices (China) Co. Ltd., will be in Beijing, AMD spokesman Drew Prairie said. The new company is subject to final approval by the Chinese government, he added.
Sunnyvale, California-based AMD also said it has donated about $120,000 to youth education programs in China.
The announcements were made during AMD Chief Executive Hector Ruiz's trip this week to Beijing, where he met with senior Chinese government officials.

As depicted in Figure 1, a typical transmit module would include a DBM, LO amplifier, preamplifier, power amplifier and ITN. Using mixed technology allows for optimizing each component: GaAs HBT for the PA and HMIC for the mixer and interstage matching networks. This high level of integration, with over 50 dB of available small signal gain, requires careful module layout. It is necessary to keep the pre-amplifier located as far as possible from the power amplifier to maintain stability. See Figure 3 for the circuit topology of an existing solution. Externally, however, only a few bypass capacitors and typical high-frequency techniques are required to realize the module’s inherent capability. Single-supply operation provides convenience and cost containment.
A 6 x 6 mm2 PQFN multi-chip module is a good package choice to build a transmit module. There are several advantages to this approach. This is an efficient way of packaging multiple chips. Since the paddle (bottom) of the PQFN package can be soldered directly to ground, it has the advantage of providing both low inductance to ground and a low thermal resistance path from the bottom of the amplifier die.
