Und es wurden markante Unterschiede zu polykristallinen Standardzellen festgestellt. So liegt die lichtinduzierte Degradation bei den UMG-Zellen von Q-Cells im Mittel um rund ein Prozent höher. Das bedeutet, dass die aus den Zellen gefertigten Module geringfügig mehr an Wirkungsgrad verlieren. Zweitens liegen der Füllfaktor und die Leerlaufspannung höher und der Kurzschlussstrom und die Durchbruchspannung niedriger. Die geringere Durchbruchspannung indiziert ein höheres Risiko für „Hot Spots“. Denn im Falle der Verschattung einer Zelle sperrt diese gewöhnlich den Stromfluss innerhalb eines Zellstrangs und wirkt damit wie ein Widerstand. Überschreitet die Sperrspannung dabei einen bestimmten Durchbruchpunkt, beginnt die Zelle sich zu erhitzen (Hot-Spot-Effekt) – bis hin zu ihrer Zerstörung. Etabliert hat sich daher, den Strom über eine Bypassdiode an dem vorübergehend nicht arbeitenden Bauelement vorbeizuleiten. Liegt die Durchbruchspannung niedriger, erhöht sich die Gefahr für Hot Spots. „Das Risiko wird abgefangen, indem maximal zwölf Zellen pro Bypassdiode verschaltet werden“, erläutert der Leiter der Abteilung Siliziummaterialien. | Translation - Italian Prima di avviare la fornitura, la società ha pubblicato le ricerche effettuate sul nuovo tipo di celle, al momento le più estese del settore. In caso di ombreggiamento, infatti, generalmente la cella in ombra blocca il passaggio di corrente e agisce quindi come una resistenza. Se la tensione inversa supera il punto di rottura, la cella inizia a surriscaldarsi (è il cosiddetto fenomeno dell'hot spot) fino a danneggiarsi irrimediabilmente. Per evitare questo fenomeno si è diffuso l'uso di diodi di bypass per deviare il flusso della corrente oltre l'elemento momentaneamente non funzionante. Se la tensione di breakdown è più bassa, il rischio di hot spot aumenta.
