The answer to these questions involves an understanding of the changing nature of today’s marketplace. Yes, there was a time when markets were less competitive than they are today, and there was a time when virgin markets prevailed, and there was a time when there was never a shortage of new prospects ready and eager to join. In those days, it made sense to focus totally on the front door (on selling new memberships) without losing sleep worrying about the back door (on keeping existing members). In der Vergangenheit herrschte auf den Märkten noch weit weniger Konkurrenz und es handelte sich zum Großteil um unerschlossene Märkte, denen eine Vielzahl potentieller Neukunden gegenüberstand. Damals machte es somit Sinn, sich primär um die Akquisition neuer Kunden und weniger um die Bindung bestehender Mitglieder zu bemühen. Aufgrund eines inzwischen gesättigten Marktes und der somit wachsenden Konkurrenz wurde es in den letzten Jahren jedoch immer wichtiger, die Aufmerksamkeit auf die aktuellen Mitglieder zu konzentrieren. |
