Abstract
Objective
Lo scopo del nostro studio è quello di determinare come il color ed il power Doppler twinkling artifacts potrebbero essere d’aiuto nella diagnosi di microlitiasi renale.
Methods
108 pazienti con 136 calcoli renali, accertati mediante esame TC, eseguito per altra patologia ,sono stati sottoposti ad ecografia in scala di grigi, a color e power Doppler ed analisi spettrale. Tutti gli esami ecografici sono stati effettuati con una sonda convex 3,5-5 Mhz. Le immagini sono state valutate in base alla presenza ed all’intensità dell’artefatto.
Results.
All’esame in scala di grigi erano state visualizzate 161 immagini suggestive per microlitiasi di cui 123 confermate dalla TC (sensibilità 90.5%). All’esame color Doppler il twinkling artifact era presente in 117 casi (sensibilità 86%) e di questi solo 2 erano, dal raffronto con la TC, calcificazioni vascolari dell’ilo renale. | Translation - English
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine whether color and power Doppler twinkling artifacts could be considered an additional diagnostic feature of small renal lithiasis.
Methods
A prospective study was performed in 108 patients with 136 renal stones, confirmed with Ct performed for other diseases. Gray-scale images and color, power, and spectral Doppler images were obtained in all patients. All sonographic examinations were performed with a 3.5- or 5-MHz convex probe. The images were then analyzed for the presence, and intensity of the artifacts.
Results
One hundred and sixty-one gray scale images were suggestive of renal microlithiasis; 123 of them were confirmed by Ct (sensitivity 90.5%) One hundred and seventeen (86%) of 136 renal stones showed color Doppler twinkling artifact, but only two of them, confronted with Ct exam, were vascular calcifications of the renal hilum. | English to Italian: Vertu newsletter
