Source text - English Epidemiology. Porokeratosis of Mibelli is usually an acquired lesion, although occasional reports of autosomal dominant inheritance are found. Men are more often involved (2:1). Etiology and Pathogenesis. Porokeratosis may represent a clonal expansion of a keratinocyte defect. Porokeratosis frequently seems to be associated with immunosuppression; it is more common in renal transplant patients, for example. Clinical Findings. The lesions may appear at any age and are often multiple. The extremities are the favoured sites, although the trunk, face and even glans have been involved. The initial lesion is a small red papule with a central keratotic spine. The lesion spreads peripherally with a distinctive white “ditch” surrounding it. Set in the depression is a sheet of scale – the microscopic cornoid lamella. The central part of the lesion is often clinically atrophic. The periphery may have a wreathlike or circinate pattern. The lesions may reach a size of several centimetres, but usually are asymptomatic. V gozdarstvu se z različnimi metodami zbirajo kazalci za ugotavljanje razvoja gozdov, ki so večinoma tudi kazalci ugodnega stanja habitatnih tipov in habitatov vrst (površina, združba, sestava drevesnih vrst (sestoj, pomladek), višina lesne zaloge, struktura lesne zaloge oziroma ravnovesje faz, odmrlo drevje, grmi in zelišča, voda), nekateri od njih (npr. grmi in zelišča) se lahko ugotovijo indirektno. Pri vrstah pa bo treba dodati spremljanje številčnosti in razširjenosti populacij in kakovost njihovih habitatov, ki pa je odvisna od različnih potreb vrst in zato stvar strokovnjakov, s katerimi bo treba sodelovati. Kazalo pa bi dodati spremljanje habitatnega drevja (na stalnih vzorčnih ploskvah,..) in njegovo trajno ohranjanje neke predpisane gostote (dopolnitev Pravilnika o varstvu gozdov), saj je veliko vrst, ki so vezane na gozd, vezanih prav nanj, kar smo ugotovili tudi na XXX, kjer je glede na analizo vertikalnega profila, habitatnega in odmrlega drevja dovolj. Ugodno stanje ohranjenosti habitatnih tipov in vrst se bo v večini primerov spremljalo in ohranjalo na ravni gozdnogospodarskih razredov gozdnogospodarskih enot, kar smo potrdili tudi na primeru GGE XXX za habitatna tipa (91K0) Ilirski bukovi gozdovi (Fagus sylvatica (Aremonio-Fagion)) in (9110) Bukovi gozdovi (Luzulo-Fagetum). Zadrega nastane pri manjšinskih habitatnih tipih, kot so na primer Javorovi gozdovi v grapah in na pobočnih gruščih, ki se pojavljajo v manjših otokih znotraj običajnejših gozdnih združb, kar se lepo vidi iz posnetega vertikalnega profila gozda na XXX. Zaradi fragmentiranosti jih je težje ohranjati v ugodnem stanju in spremljati, zato bo treba poiskati primerno rešitev, saj je to prednostni habitatni tip.	Translation - English The conservation status of species and habitat types will have to be monitored. In forestry, indicators for assessing forest development are obtained by various methods; most of these indicators can also serve as indicators of favourable status of habitat types and species habitats (surface, vegetation, composition by tree species – stands, young trees; amount and structure (phase balance) of growing stock, dead trees, bushes and herbs, water); some of them can be estimated indirectly (e.g. bushes and herbs). With species, number of specimens, their geographical distribution, and quality of their habitats will have to be monitored; the latter depends on the different needs of various species and is therefore an issue to be determined by experts who will also have to participate in the monitoring. It would also be sensible to monitor trees in the species habitats (on permanent sample plots) and their sustained suitable density (supplement to Rules on protection of Forests) for there are numerous forest species that are actually dependent on the trees in particular. We confirmed this in the case of XXX where there are enough live and dead trees judging from the analysis of the vertical profile. The favourable status of preservation of habitat types and species will in most cases be monitored and preserved on the level of forest management classes of forest management units as we found in the case of FMU XXX for habitat types (91K0) Illyrian Fagus sylvatica forests (Aremonio-Fagion) and (9110) Luzulo-Fagetum beech forests. The situation becomes more challenging in the case of minor habitat types as for example Tilio Acerion forests on slopes, screes and ravines that exist as small islands in the more common forest associations as clearly evident from the image of vertical profile of the XXX forest. Because of their fragmentation they are more difficult to monitor and keep in a favourable condition; a better solution will have to be found as this is a priority habitat type.

Back to Earth: Magician David Blaine spent 52 hours being tossed around inside a gyroscope, without food and water, and getting flipped in all directions several times a minute. Source text - Slovenian MEDNARODNA AKADEMIJA UPRIZORITVENIH UMETNOSTI V KOPRU Posledice družbenih sprememb v sodobnem svetu so se brez dvoma dotaknile tudi vzgojnoizobraževalnih sistemov, ki se morajo pospešeno prilagajati novi ekonomski in politični dejanskosti. Tudi univerzitetno izobraževalno polje na Slovenskem ni izjema, pri čemer mora, da bi ostalo primerljivo in kompetitivno, zasledovati in uvajati ključna sodobna izobraževalna izhodišča in se še bolj neposredno navezovati na raziskovalno dejavnost ter upoštevati trg dela. Navedeno ji omogočajo sodobne izobraževalne metode kot so interdisciplinarnost, visoka fleksibilnost ter vseživljenjsko učenje, kar visokošolske institucije tudi, če ne predvsem, sili v sooblikovanje neprekinjenega študijskega procesa. Izhodišče koncepta Mednarodne akademije uprizoritvenih umetnosti pomeni prav prilagajanje navedenim zahtevam sodobnega izobraževanja. Ta projekt bomo na Fakulteti za humanistične študije Koper Univerze na Primorskem razvijali na osnovi študijskega programa »Uprizoritvene študije in kreativno pisanje«, ki je trenutno v postopku akreditacije. As a consequence, they need to adapt to the new political and economic reality at an increasing pace. The university-level education of Slovenia is no exception to this rule, and in order to remain comparable and competitive, it has to follow and implement the key guidelines of modern education and at the same time build an even stronger relationship with research activity and respect the reality of the labour market. It can attain these goals through modern methods of education, namely interdisciplinarity, great flexibility and lifelong learning. In fact, these methods are a part of the motivation – perhaps even the driving force – behind the joint formation of the process of continuous studying that institutions of higher education undertake. Proper adaptation to the mentioned demands of the modern process of education stands as the basis of the concept behind the International Academy of Performance Arts. At the Faculty of Humanities, University of Primorska, we will develop this project on the basis of the “Performance Studies and Creative Writing” study programme that is currently undergoing accreditation. Most importantly, while this project is to open a rather difficult-to-enter field of studies to a wider audience, it also stands as proof of a thoroughly modern understanding of the contemporary processes of designing and managing creative activity in the university sphere.

He started wondering how he could make things a little brighter for the troops, and he thought that by donating 2,600 Delta Blue harmonicas to them in time for Christmas seemed like the right answer. “They’re handy, they’re portable, you don’t have to plug them in, and anyone can play a tune on them to some degree,” he said. Source text - Slovenian UTEMELJITEV SPECIFIČNOSTI PROGRAMA V študijskih programih Mednarodne akademije uprizoritvenih umetnosti se bodo široko zajete teorije uprizarjanja in vizualno razumljeno mišljenje, ki so ključne za kakršno koli kreativno delovanje, najsodobnejši tokovi v dramski in uprizoritveni svetovni in domači produkciji ter neklasični pogledi na gledališče kot prostor rituala in sakralnega z ene strani se z druge izčrpno dopolnjevali s praktičnimi vsebinami, kot na primer dramska, prozna in pesniška skripcija, kjer pride do izraza vsa posameznikova ustvarjalna energija v procesih raziskovanja praktičnih razsežnosti uprizoritvenega in pisnega ustvarjanja, ki pa niso usmerjene izključno v izobraževanje gledaliških profesionalcev, temveč se usmerjajo na širši krog interesentov in praktikov. V primerjavi s tradicionalnimi študijskimi programi bodo pričujoči programi ponujali interdisciplinarnost študija v skladu s sodobnimi načini izobraževanja in znanstvenega raziskovanja, obenem bodo mednarodno izjemno povezljivi, saj bodo sorodni z mnogimi sodobnimi univerzitetnimi programi uprizoritvenih študij v Evropi in po svetu. On the one hand, they will cover the wide scope of theories of performance and the visual concept of cognition, which are elementary for any form of creative activity, the latest trends in playwriting and performance at home and abroad, and unconventional concepts of the theatre as a place of the sacred and of rituals. On the other hand, these themes will be complemented comprehensively by subjects of a more practical character, such as writing of plays, prose and poetry. This is where an individual’s creative energy can blossom in full through the exploration of the practical dimensions of creation in performance and writing. These practical dimensions, however, are not focused exclusively on educating theatre professionals; instead, they are oriented towards a broader audience of practitioners and fans. In comparison with the more traditional study programmes, ours will enable an interdisciplinary study process in compliance with modern methods of education and scientific research, and at the same time, they will be internationally compatible to a remarkable degree as they will have much in common with numerous modern university programmes of performance studies throughout Europe and the world. They will be composed in line with the latest trends in the modern theory of performance arts and will enable integration with practical work that, however, will not be limited to the training of theatre professionals; instead, these study programmes will open up the formal options for others who desire to study the theoretical and the practical aspects of performance.

The Swiss perfected chocolate for eating in 1876, though Europeans had been drinking chocolate long before. Ruby red: Everyone recognizes the shoes that Dorothy wore in the “Wizard of Oz” as a brilliant ruby red pair. Actually, the original shoes were silver. That colour didn't contrast well with the yellow brick road, so the movie creators in 1939 switched them to red. More bells and whistles: When astronaut John Glenn orbited Earth in 1962, he had 56 toggle switches and eight push-button switches to work with. When he went back into space in 1998 aboard the space shuttle Discovery, there were 856 toggle switches and 219 button switches.	Translation - Slovenian Čokolada na dan: V Švici ljudje pohrustajo toliko čokolade, da so po porabi te slaščice na prebivalca prvi na svetu. Švicarji so leta 1876 izpopolnili recept za čokolado, ki jo je mogoče grizljati, vendar so Evropejci že dolgo pred tem uživali čokolado v obliki napitkov. Rubinsko rdeča: Vsi se še spomnimo, da je bil par čeveljcev, ki jih je Dorothy nosila v filmu Čarovnik iz Oza, žareče rubinsko rdeče barve. Vendar pa je bil njen prvi par srebrne barve. Source text - Slovenian MEDNARODNA VPETOST Obravnava vizualnega mišljenja, teorij uprizarjanja, gledališča in scenskih umetnosti 20. stoletja, refleksije scenskih umetnosti, izvorov in potencialov igre z ene ter kreativno pisanje proze, poezije in drame ob upoštevanju besedil v elektronskih medijih in oglasnih sporočil z druge strani zagotavlja študijsko polje, ki je dejansko sodobno, zato se pa je tudi zmožno povezovati s podobnimi študiji v mednarodnem prostoru. Tako se na Mednarodni akademiji uprizoritvenih umetnosti pričakuje mednarodni pretok študentov in izvajalcev. Pri izvajanju teh programov bodo sodelovali mednarodno priznani strokovnjaki za predlagana področja ter tuje univerze, ki takšne ali sorodne programe že ponujajo. Nekateri sporazumi, ki določajo tovrstno sodelovanje, so že sklenjeni (dogovor Socrates/Erasmus, ki opredeljuje sodelovanje in izmenjavo študentov in učiteljev, je sklenjen na primer že z Oddelkom za teorijo književnosti, gledališče in audiovizualne umetnosti Univerze v Lodžu na Poljskem), hkrati pa si bo UP FHŠ Koper prizadevala vključevati lastne raziskovalce in podiplomske študente/ke tudi z drugih oddelkov, ki se v svojem interdisciplinarnem delu ukvarjajo s predlaganimi študijskimi področji, na primer programi filozofije, kulturnih študij in antropologije, filozofije in teorije vizualnih komunikacij itd.	Translation - English INTERNATIONAL PLACEMENT The programme will deal with visual cognition; theories of performance, theatre and stage arts of the 20th century; reflection on stage arts, origins and potentials of the play; and on the other side, creative writing of prose, poetry and plays whilst taking into account the texts in electronic media and in advertisements. In this manner, a truly modern field of study opens up, one that is contemporary enough to be capable of integration with similar study programmes on an international level. Thus, we expect an international flow of students and teachers at the International Academy of Performance Arts. Internationally recognised experts on the subjects in the curriculum and foreign universities that already provide similar or related study programmes will take part in the implementation of these programmes. Some agreements that govern this type of cooperation have already been entered into (one Socrates/Erasmus agreement, which defines the cooperation and exchange of students and teachers, has already been made with the Department of Literary Theory, Theatre and Audio-Visual Arts at the University of Łódź in Poland); at the same time, the Faculty of Humanities in Koper, University of Primorska, will strive to include its own researchers and post-graduate students (also from other departments) that deal with the planned fields of study in their interdisciplinary work, for example in the fields of philosophy, culture studies and anthropology, philosophy and theory of visual communications, etc.

If they’re caught violating the city’s noise ordinance, they’ll be facing Judge Paul Sacco, who uses a cruel and unusual form of sentencing. He makes them listen to an hour’s worth of music he knows they’ll hate, like Dean Martin, Roy Rogers, or even the Barney theme song. They can’t laugh or make comments or they’ll be cited for contempt. “It works!” Sacco says, adding none of the offenders have appeared in court a second time. Bad choice: Alija Cerimi, a prisoner in a Serbian jail, chose to spend a weekend pass burglarizing houses. If that wasn't bad enough, the house he chose to break into was owned by the prison governor. After returning to the prison, he was discovered when the governor realized it was his wristwatch that Cerimi was wearing on his arm. Witnesses said the governor shouted at the thief, who just laughed. He had also stolen the man's mobile phone and some other jewellery. No word on how much longer Cerimi may be incarcerated after that escapade. Prekrškarje namreč obsodi na enourno poslušanje glasbe, za katero ve, da jim para živce; to so stvaritve Deana Martina in Roya Rogersa, v skrajnih primerih celo pesmica iz otroške serije o vijoličnem dinozavru Barneyu. Med kaznijo se ne smejo smejati ali imeti kakršnih koli pripomb, saj so lahko kaznovani zaradi nespoštovanja sodišča. »Kazen brez dvoma deluje!« pravi Paul in dodaja, da med kaznovanimi zaenkrat ni povratnikov. She was so excited to see him take his first steps that she didn't think about the fact he had also shut the self-locking balcony door. Najstarejše podatke o poselitvi ožje Tolminske predstavljajo najdbe kamnitih mikrolitskih orodij in odbitkov z dveh visokogorskih postojank: s planine Pretovč pod Mrzlim vrhom in planine Kuhinja pod Krnom. Te dokazujejo prisotnost mezolitskega (8000–5000 pr.n.š.) lovca visoko nad dolino reke Soče. Arheološka podoba Tolminske je vse do bronaste dobe (ok. 1700–900 pr.n.š.) dokaj nejasna. Najstarejši sledovi stalne poselitve segajo v drugo polovico 2. tisočletja pr.n.š. V ta čas sodijo tudi ostaline najstarejše, bronastodobne stavbe z Mosta na Soči. Obdobje največjega razcveta v tolminski davnini se odraža v bogatem gradivu starejše železnodobne kulturne skupine, ki nosi ime svetolucijska. Poimenovana je po svojem središčnem naselju na Mostu na Soči – Sveti Luciji in je geografsko obsegala Posočje, sosednjo Benečijo in Bohinj. Med najdišči ima posebno mesto prav Most na Soči. Tu so obsežna arheološka izkopavanja Goriškega muzeja v 70 letih 20. stoletja odkrila največji železnodobni naselbinski kompleks z območja jugovzhodnih Alp.	Translation - English The furthest western region of Slovenia has seen quite a number of ethnical and cultural changes throughout the millennia. Each has placed a tile into the mosaic of these multi-coloured lands. Information on the earliest settlement in the narrow Tolmin area can be found on relicts of microlithic stone tools and stone chips at two archaeological sites high up in the mountains: the Pretovč Alpine meadow below Mrzli vrh and the Kuhinja Alpine meadow under Krn Mountain. These findings prove the presence of the mesolithic hunter (8000–5000 B.C.) high above the Soča River Valley. The archaeological picture of Tolmin area, however, remains somewhat unclear until the Bronze Age (approx. 1700–900 B.C.). The oldest remains of permanent settlements reach into the second half of the second millennium B.C. The remains of the oldest Bronze Age building in Most na Soči can be dated back to this period. The era of the height of Tolmin ancient history is reflected in the rich legacy of the Iron Age I cultural group, named the Sveta Lucija cultural group. The name comes from its central settlement in Most na Soči – Sveta Lucija; its geographical boundaries stretching to Posočje and neighbouring Benečija and Bohinj. It is Most na Soči that holds a special place among the archaeological sites. It is where extensive archaeological excavations by Goriški museum in the seventies of the twentieth century led to the discovery of the largest Iron Age settlement complex in the south-eastern Alpine region.

In ko si narišem sanjsko podobo, ki naj bi me osrečevala, notranje pomirila in v mislih približala rodni kraj, je ta idealizirana, ozaljšana, prešerna, kot spev z gorà. Tàko bom nosil v sebi do poslednjega trenutka svojega zavedanja. Kakšna je ta, moja podoba? Stojim pri svetem Mavru in gledam proti Modreju, na mogočne kulise naših Peči daleč za vasjo; njihova podnožja skoraj vstajajo iz gladine Soče. Kot v kakšni modernistični kompoziciji jo v mislih prepleta panorama s popolnoma drugega zornega kota, pogled na kraj z bližnje Senice. Vijugav tok Soče, ki se kmalu pod Tolminom umiri in preide v zgornji del jezera na Mostu, je kot na dlani. Vas ob jezeru, naravno mostišče, družno oblivata Soča in Idrijca; lenobno počasni, odkar ju je človek ukrotil in sta zalili globoka korita pod vasjo.	Translation - English The imagery of its landscape always keeps me company whenever I’m far from home. And when I paint an image from my dreams upon it, the one which makes me happy, steadies me and brings me closer to my home, such an image is idealised, rich and joyful as an echo of a song, coming from the mountains. And this image will remain with me till the last drop of awareness leaves my mind. This image of mine, what is it like? I’m standing near Saint Maver and my gaze moves towards Modrej, falling on the mighty scenery of the Peči mountains far beyond the village, their foothills seeming to rise right from the Soča River. Almost, as if in a modernistic composition in my mind, a view from a completely different angle is interwoven with this picture; a view of the town from the nearby Senica - the winding flow of the Soča River, placated soon after passing through Tolmin continuing its journey into the upper part of the Most Lake which I can almost touch. The village near the lake, a genuine lake-dwelling, is contoured by both the Soča and Idrijca rivers, their currents somewhat lazy and slow ever since man tamed them and caused them to remain in the now deep river basins below the village.

Translation - English An analysis of web messages from the adolescents provides an interesting insight into how the young see themselves, their peers, health and disease. The programme developers could use an analysis of the questions teenagers submitted to the web counselling workshop as a starting point for developing better communication with teenagers, easier controlling of psychosomatic illnesses, more efficient approach to health promotion and to decreasing of school absenteeism and self-harming behaviours.

Source text - English Just as in an Hollywood movie, accessories play an important role: Forties inspired pumps and ankle boots are mixed with thongs and strap-heeled stiletto sandals, decorated with Asian wood beads in chocolate, cream and black. Special guest star is the new Rubens bag in hand-finished high quality soft leather, with ring closure, studs and customised hardware. Offering a contemporary look at the Forties mood, the men's collection plays on a contrast between clean and treated, between military precision, suave evening wear and relaxed "off duty" casual wear. An unusual, subtle summer colour palette features dark blue, khaki, olive and teal, cream, soft grey and chocolate brown. Tailored and structured jackets are worn with slim-cut trousers; shirts with epaulettes are combined with chino pants for a look worthy of Steve McQueen or Burt Lancaster. Translation - Slovenian Tako kot v vsakem hollywoodskem filmu tudi tu modni dodatki igrajo pomembno vlogo: salonarji in gležnjarji v slogu štiridesetih v družbi sandalov s tanko visoko peto in japonk, okrašenih z azijskimi lesenimi kroglicami v črni, smetanovi in čokoladni barvi. Častno mesto zavzema nova torbica Rubens, narejena iz ročno obdelanega, visoko kakovostnega mehkega usnja; zapira se z obročkom, krasijo pa jo izbokline in po želji izbrani kovinski dodatki. V sodobni refleksiji razpoloženja štiridesetih je za moška oblačila značilno nasprotje med grobim in uglajenim; med vojaško preciznostjo, prefinjenostjo večerne noše in sproščenostjo oblačil za prosti čas. Nenavadna in prefinjena paleta poletnih barv zajema temno modro, kaki, olivno in modrikasto zeleno, smetanovo, mehko sivo in čokoladno rjavo. K teliranim suknjičem se nosijo ravno krojene hlače, srajce z epoletami pa kombiniramo s hlačami iz denima. Rezultat je vreden Steva McQueena ali Burta Lancastra. Background

Born in 1978. Native speaker of Slovenian language. Daughter of a hospital lawyer and an engineer. Learned to read when I was 4. Started learning English by the age of 5. Won almost every English language competition I entered.

English language competition? It's this thing we have here in Slovenia where our English teachers pit their pupils against each other.

Delivered my first paid translation when I was 14. Now I can easily translate 3,000 words per day and revise about three times as many.

I have a Certificate of Proficiency in English (University of Cambridge, grade A); this is a level C2 (Mastery) degree according to CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

I'm friendly, patient, resourceful and reliable. A fast learner. I own a ton of dictionaries. I've been reading Slovenian and English books ever since I was a child. As a result I have an extensive vocabulary and a keen sense of language that many other translators sometimes seem to lack.

Services

Quality management: All my translations are revised by other linguists. I work with several other excellent translators and editors and I can have my translations double-checked really fast. Have I mentioned I also provide editing and proofreading services?

Please note I'm an advanced user of several CAT tools - I know how to work with translation memories, terminology databases, bilingual documents, pretranslated files, satellites and similar.

Working with me is simple. You order a translation, I deliver it and then I send you an invoice for my services.

I deliver accurate translations, not guesswork. If I notice anything the client should be made aware of during the translation process (like inconsistencies and severe errors in the source text), I'll alert the project manager and suggest corrective measures if desired.

I occasionally do pro bono work. I always offer very affordable rates to charities.

Funny fact no. 2: I own several guinea pigs and I’ve probably read most of what has ever been written about these furry little animals. Naturally, by own I mean I cater to their every whim. So don't look any further if you ever happen to need a translation that has to do with cavies.
