Grades 3 or 4 adverse events observed in patients who received 50 mg of drug-x over multiple cycles included the following:
• Asymptomatic increases in lipase and/or amylase
• Uncomplicated neutropenia (eg, neutropenia without fever or infection)
• Hypertension
• Diarrhea
In addition to the above adverse events, two patients developed bleeding during Cycle 1 within a single tumor lesion that was biopsied.
| | English to Spanish: Egypt | Source text - English Part One: Burial Places
From the dawn of history to the coming of Christianity, the ancient Egyptians seem to have cherised hope of eternal life. Even the most simple of graves from Predynastic period to the end of the Pharaonic era contained grave goods, which appear to have been placed beside the body to provide for the needs of the deceased in the Afterlife.
Death was regarded as a welcome passage from this life to the next. In a Middle Kingdom text, “The Dispute of a Man with his Ba”, death is likened to a sick’s man recovery, going out after confinement, a man’s coming home after a warfare, a man’s longing from home after long years in captivity, or sitting under a sail on a breezy day.
All those who could afford it, therefore, spent much of their adult lives preparing an appropriate burial place. Many Old and Middle Kingdom officials built splendid tombs in the Memphite necropolis near to the pyramids of the kings they served, while the New Kingdom administrators made ready rock-cut tombs on the west bank of the Nile, not far from the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings.
| | English to Spanish: Hypertension | Source text - English According to recent guidelines published in XXXX, “more than two thirds of patients with hypertension cannot be controlled on one drug and will require two or more antihypertensive agents from different classes” to achieve control of their blood pressures. European Society of Hypertension–European Society of Cardiology (ESH-ESC) guidelines state that “two or more drugs in combination are necessary in the majority of patients.” When antihypertensive medications of different classes are combined, there is often an additive effect on blood pressure lowering, because these medications act on different pathways. Y, a rational, dual mechanistic drug, blends two of these classes: a calcium channel blocker (CCB), Z, and an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), W.
Z and W are two of the most widely prescribed antihypertensive drugs worldwide. Both are supported by a wealth of data from clinical trials and years of clinical experience. Y has proven BP-lowering efficacy across all grades of hypertension. Additionally, effective blood pressure reduction with Y has been observed across all ages, including the elderly. An improved tolerability profile is also achieved with Y. Particularly, there is less peripheral oedema than that observed with CCB monotherapy (eg, Z).
| | English to Spanish: Chemical patent | Source text - English S1 is protected by being subjected to an alkylating agent in the presence of base in an alcohol solvent to produce compound S2, wherein “Ar” is defined as an aryl moiety. As used herein, “alkylating agent” means an agent that reacts with S1 resulting in both the nitrogen and hydroxyl of S1 forming a new carbon-nitrogen and carbon-oxygen bond, respectively. Non-limiting examples of an alkylating agent include halomethylenearyl or halomethyleneheteroaryl. An example of an alcohol solvent is methanol. Suitable examples of base include potassium hydroxide, potassium carbonate, potassium tert-butoxide, sodium methoxide, and Triton B.
In turn, S2 is selectively deprotected by a hydrogenating agent to yield S3. As used herein, “hydrogenating agent” means addition of hydrogen atom to another atom residue like carbon. Suitable example of a hydrogenating agent include palladium on carbon or rhodium on carbon, in a methanol solvent and under hydrogen gas.
Lastly, S3 is formylated and aminated by a formylating agent and an aminating agent, respectively. As used herein, “formylating agent” means an agent that transfers a methylene unit “CH2”or “ ”. Non-limiting examples of a formylating agent are paraformaldehyde, formaldehyde, formic acid-formamide, formylimidazole, p-nitrophenyl formate. Alternatively, any aldehyde (R-COH) can be used as formylating agent in this application. The result is that the methylene unit is further branched based upon the aldehyde that is used. These formulating agents are commercially available or made by known methods. As used herein, “aminating agent” means any primary of amine of formula NHR3 or secondary amine of formula NR3R4. These amines are commercially available or made by known methods. For example, many such amines can be identified using ChemOffice WebServer and the ChemACX databases. These amines can be further modified by those methods well-known in the art.
