We are a native Japanese and English freelance translation team. Over 5 years translation experience has provided us with a solid base of translation experience. I am a native speaker of Japanese. My husband is a native speaker of English from the US. I believe that my wide variety of practical business, IT, and technological experience distinguishes me from many others. I studied my undergraduate work here in Japan at a fairly prestigious university and did my post-graduate study in Great Britain, receiving my Master of Science from Manchester University in 2004. In addition, my husband has a very technical background. After completing his university studies in the US, he worked for several electronics firms as a mid-level manager and is very familiar with technological terminology. Together we are better able to ensure both accuracy and appropriateness of expression of the final translation. My husband has a high level of Japanese language skill as well.
My own English proficiency is very strong and I have extensive experience as a translator. I have a Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Manchester in the U.K. I was required to write a very large number of academic essays and academic papers during my time of study at the University of Manchester. In addition, I took part in the academic writing course at the School of English attached to the university prior to beginning my post graduate study. As freelance translators, our working experience ranges from financial reports, business newspapers and magazine articles, and university MBA course assignments to mobile phone application technical specifications, IT system design documents, medical equipment manuals, and software and website localization. Together with my husband as a proofreader and co-translator, I feel quite capable of both English to Japanese translation and Japanese to English translation.
In addition, previously, I worked to design and develop IT systems for more than 9 years. I acquired a great deal of technical skill while working for a major industrial equipment manufacturer. I have engaged in the whole process of system development: project management, pre-sales marketing, analysis, design, development, test, and user training and support. I have dealt with package software development, such as SAP implementation, as well as custom system development. My experience is not limited to technical areas. For example, I also have experience making sales presentations for e-commerce software packages, which I engaged in as a designer and programmer, and then managed a project team for the project. This means that I have developed my skills not only to recognize end user requirements and then design them in a way that the system can deal with, but also to coordinate with other technical members of the team, to assure quality, and manage issues or risks. Consequently, I am specialized in the field of business and economics as well as IT related technology.
Upon my return from Manchester University, I worked as a consultant for Accenture Japan where I had the opportunity to conduct several major projects involving international accounts. Since I became a free-lance translator, I have worked very hard to develop my skills in order to offer the highest possible quality work to the client. I believe that we have created a synergetic translation effect that is able to overcome the intricacies of expression that are especially challenging when working with the translation of Japanese and English.
