Cada ensayo del laberinto acuático durará 5 días, ensayándose juntos los animales del mismo período de administración.
Durante la realización de los ensayos, se colocarán 3 referencias de tamaño mayor (2 figuras opacas y un termohigrógrafo en la pared) y 3 figuras menores de trazo fino. El laberinto acuático será virtualmente fraccionado en 4 sectores o cuadrantes. Los animales se depositarán en un cuadrante del laberinto y se dejará que busquen la isla hasta un máximo de 100 segundos. En el momento en que el animal llegue a la isla finalizará el ensayo. Siempre se recuperará al animal de la isla después de permanecer unos segundos en ella. Si el animal no encuentra la isla en este tiempo, se le dirigirá hacia la misma y se le depositará sobre ella durante aproximadamente 10 segundos.
