My name is Frank Poppelaars, 26 years old. After having worked in education for a few years, I started translating. I liked this so much that I started my own translation agency in May 2008: Helios Translations. Since then, I have worked on a range of translation assignments, such as quotations, business letters, letters of application, product descriptions, software (UI / manuals), (e-)books, games (in-game / manuals), pamphlets, minutes, surveys, business plans, general terms and conditions, menus, resumes, many different websites, a screenplay and the (spoken) text of corporate videos. I like having as much variation in my work as possible as this keeps it fun and challenging, so you are at the right address for a wide variety of assignments. What I like best, however, is the translation (localisation) of software and games. As a fervent gamer myself, for me translating games is as close to a hobby as work can get.

I take pride in in becoming involved with your text. You could say it is my trademark, as not all translators do this. Many merely translate the text and consider it done. However, that it not good enough for me. I always wish the end result to be as good as possible, with respect to not only the translations, but also to punctuation, layout, choice of words, etc. Whenever I see something that could be improved, I will suggest improvements. Ultimately, it is obviously the client’s decision whether or not they are implemented. This also holds good for (parts of the) source text. Also if the source text is going to be published or otherwise used, and therefore important, I can check it for you. Often for a reasonable price, as I will already be familiar with the text after all.
