Frappes chirurgicales sur écrans aseptisés
Les guerres en ex-Yougoslavie m'avaient dévoilé une nouvelle façon de faire la guerre. Une sorte d' « info-war », un conflit virtuel. On voyait sur les écrans des frappes dites chirurgicales détruire le paysage, via un jeu vidéo. Une façon d'écarter l’idée qu'une bombe tue, détruit, pulvérise. La vérité c'est que près de dix ou vingt ans après, j'ai l'impression d'être victime d'amnésie. Les dates se mélangent, les repères disparaissent. Il me fallait aller vérifier l'information, dans les rues de Belgrade. Pour bien voir l'impact encore présent des balles. Et les bâtiments encore éventrés, sortes de cimetières servant à rafraîchir la mémoire, et donc à laisser entrevoir un bout d'histoire.
Marcher à travers la ville. Je ne peux qu'imaginer ce qui s'est passé, à Belgrade et ailleurs. Au fil des discussions, une idée reçue s’effondre : il parait que la période n'était pas perçue comme particulièrement malheureuse par les jeunes qu'on a rencontrés. Je recueille le témoignage de Marko : « Oui, c'était dur, mais il fallait bien vivre. Alors on dansait dans les sous-sols des immeubles. » Une sorte de révolte pacifique, où les étudiants tentaient de mobiliser l'opinion publique mondiale en tentant de fournir une certaine image de la vie serbe.

Bombardamenti chirurgici su schermi asettici
Le guerre in Jugoslavia mi hanno rivelato un nuovo modo di fare la guerra.: una sorta di « info-war », un conflitto virtuale. Sugli schermi si potevano vedere i bombardamenti, detti chirurgici, mentre distruggevano il paesaggio, come in un videogioco. Un modo per allontanare il pensiero che una bomba uccide, distrugge, polverizza. La verità è che quasi dieci o vent'anni dopo, ho l'impressione di essere vittima di un'amnesia - le date si mescolano, i punti di riferimento scompaiono. Ho sentito la necessità di andare a verificare l'informazione, per le vie di Belgrado, per vedere chiaramente l'impatto dei proiettili…e gli edifici ancora sventrati, come cimiteri che rinfrescano la memoria e lasciano intravedere un pezzo di storia.
Camminare per la città: non riesco a immaginare cioè che è accaduto, a Belgrado e altrove. Ascoltando i discorsi, crollano i preconcetti: sembrava che i giovani incontrati non percepiscano quel periodo come particolarmente infelice. Raccolgo la testimonianza di Marko: « Sì era dura, ma bisognava pur vivere. Allora andavamo a ballare negli scantinati dei palazzi. » Una specie di rivolta pacifica, con cui gli studenti intendevano mobilitare l'opinione pubblica mondiale con una certa immagine della vita serba.

Eine Schule fürs Leben?
Der kleine Campus mit dem verstaubten Archiv, in dem die Filmrollen bis unter die Decke gestapelt sind, wirkt wie aus vergangenen Zeiten. Auch die Mitarbeiter geben sich wenig aufgeschlossen. Das eigentliche Kapital sind die internationalen Studenten, die aus Japan, New York und Schweden kommen, um hier zu studieren. XX, ehemaliger Regie-Student und nun selbst Dozent an der Filmhochschule, erklärt, dass die Schule eine Menge an Vorteilen zu bieten hat. So wird bei Material und Herstellung auf höchste Qualität geachtet: Alle Filme und Kameraübungen werden auf 35mm gedreht, um die Genauigkeit der Studenten gegenüber ihren Filmen zu fördern. Hinzu kommt die ganz individuelle Betreuung der Studenten. Deren persönliche Entwicklung ist sogar in der offiziellen Beschreibung der Schule festgeschrieben. Für XX bedeutet das, aus jedem seine individuelle Lebensgeschichte hervorzuholen. Auf die Frage, ob er eine Art Therapeut sei, winkt er lachend ab. „Nein, ich versuche nicht, die Studenten zu heilen. Ich gebe ihnen lediglich das filmische Handwerk, mit dem sie ihre Geschichte ausdrücken können.“
Die Stadt als Filmkulisse
Die Stadt mit ihrem morbiden Charme des Vergangenen, in der die Zeichen des Kommunismus unübersehbar sind, hält ungewöhnliche Kulissen für eigenwillige Filme bereit. Eindrucksvoll geometrische Plattenbaulandschaften und die menschenleeren Fabrikgebäude bieten den trostlosen Raum, in dem die Geschichten über erste Lieben, arbeitslose Jugendliche und deutsche Zivildienstleistende erzählt werden. YY, Dokumentarfilmer und Professor an der Filmhochschule, lehrt seine Studenten, ihrer Umgebung und den Bewohnern eine besondere Aufmerksamkeit zu schenken. Die normale Wirklichkeit kann durch eine liebevoll beobachtende Kamera einen unverwechselbaren Protagonisten hervorbringen, der gleichzeitig etwas über die Menschheit im Allgemeinen aussagt. In Łodz schwirren Tausende dieser Geschichten umher.

Il piccolo campus con l’archivio impolverato, dove i rulli di pellicola sono impilati fino al soffitto, sembra far parte dei tempi passati. Anche i collaboratori appaiono poco ricettivi alle novità, ma la vera ricchezza sono gli studenti internazionali, che vengono a studiare qui dal Giappone, da New York e dalla Svezia. XX, ex-studente di regia e ora docente alla scuola di cinema, spiega che la scuola offre moltissimi vantaggi. Per il materiale e la produzione si bada alla massima qualità: tutti i film e gli esercizi di ripresa sono girati su pellicola da 35 mm per stimolare la scrupolosità degli studenti nei confronti dei propri film. A questo si deve aggiungere l’assistenza individuale agli studenti: persino nella sua descrizione ufficiale, la scuola si prefigge la loro crescita personale. Per XX questo significa tirare fuori da ognuno la sua storia di vita personale. Alla domanda, se si senta una sorta di terapeuta, nega ridendo „No, non cerco di salvare gli studenti. Insegno soltanto il mestiere del cinema, con cui possono esprimere le loro storie.“
La città come scenario cinematografico
Con il suo morbido fascino del passato, che porta i vistosi segni del comunismo, la città tiene in serbo scenari stravaganti per film insoliti. L’imponente panorama geometrico di prefabbricati e gli stabilimenti deserti offrono un ambiente desolato in cui raccontare storie di primi amori, di giovani disoccupati e di obiettori di coscienza tedeschi. YY, cineasta di documentari e professore alla scuola di cinema, insegna a suoi studenti a prestare un’attenzione particolare all’ ambiente e ai suoi abitanti. La realtà quotidiana, osservata minuziosamente attraverso una telecamera, può portare alla luce un protagonista insostituibile, che sia allo stesso tempo significativo per l’essere umano in generale. A Lodz circolano migliaia di queste storie.
