I am fluent in both English and Spanish, having been raised speaking both languages (although English is my true mother tongue). I continue to use both languages in my daily life - English with my parents and children, and Spanish with my Bolivian husband and in-laws. Living in Bolivia next door to my in-laws and also having many native English speaking friends (and my parents) here gives me excellent opportunities every day to keep up my language skills and constantly learn new things. I started working as a freelance translator while I was still teaching English and running the language and social studies departments at a private school. But, since the birth of my twins, I now work as a translator, interpreter and proofreader.

Due to my experience as a teacher and administrator in a bilingual school, I have become very familiar with the terminology related to education in both Spanish and English. Aside from that, I still hold the reputation as the strictest and best English teacher that said school has ever known. This is due in part to my extreme pickiness in regard to grammar, spelling, style, and punctuation. This stemmed into my expertise in proofreading, copyediting, and style modification of English texts. In addition, I have plenty of experience in translating both legal and financial texts.

I love language, and therefore I love translating, interpreting, proofreading and copyediting. I pay attention to detail in everything, so my work is always reviewed and improved at least twice. This work also makes me happy in part because I am - aside from working with language, my passion - continuing to put my English Literature degree to use, and working as a freelancer allows me to be with my children between projects.

I am proud to use SDL Trados 2009, and I am also certified by exam with the United States Embassy in Bolivia to have my translations from Spanish to English notarized by a US Notary Public.
