| Translation - English Principal Points :
Discover one of the most engaging provinces of India
The safari to Ranthambore, home to numerous tigers and so many other species of wild animal.
Rajasthan, an introduction to the authentic India, will transport you to the world known as the Thousand and One Nights. The secrets of the jungle, the immensity of the desert and encounters with proud Rajasthanis, charming the youngest….and the oldest traveller!
With its sumptuous Maharajas’ palaces of unbelievable luxury, its grand fortresses, its refined private mansions and its majestic Rajputi elders, Rajasthan speaks of an age of chivalry.
A mosaic of landscapes awaits you, from the gentle, verdantly wooded Aravelli Mountains to the extreme aridness of the Thar, with its sand dunes and tiny villages surrounded by desert.
It is equally an astonishing human environment, with its peace loving Rebari and Bishno shepherds in their colourful turbans. The nomadic blacksmith and musician Rajputi gypsies in their time-honoured tradition will extend a warm welcome to the traveller.
We will show you a taste of the high life, sometimes staying in old forts transformed into hotels, but still run by the Rajputi elders, extending such a warm welcome.

Dasy 1 : Arrival in Dheli
Airport welcome (normally in the evening). Transfer and night in hotel.
Mark Twain divided the world into those who had seen the Taj Maha and those who had not. For 22 years, until 1653, 20,000 workmen, tons of marble excavated from Rajasthan and carried on the backs of camels or elephants, together with the entire fortune of the emperor went into the construction of this magnicent construction, 73 metres high and flanked by grand minarets in the form of birthday cake candles.
Day 3 : Agra – Ranthambore [6H – 250 Km]
In the morning, we will make a stop at the ‘ghost’ town of Fatehpur Sikri, 40km west of Agra. This former capital city, built by the emperor Akbar in 1659, was later abandoned due to the lack of water. We will see some of the grand buildings making up this noble town, including the Jama Masjid, tomb of Salim Christi; Panch Mahal and other palaces. Then we will make our way to Rathambore, visiting its 10th Century fort before arriving at our hotel for the night.
Day 6 : Pushkar – Jodhpur [4/5H – 180 Km]
In the morning we leave for Jodhpur, a densely populated, bustling town dominated by a massive fortress. After signing in at our hotel, we’ll visit the old city, starting with its Clock Tower and at its feet, the Sardar Market. We spend the night in the hotel.
In the Indian countryside the roads are always an adventure. You’ll find the words: “Horn Please” on the tailgate of every lorry and Indian drivers don’t hold back. Soon you will no longer be surprised to see the driver weaving between elephants, tractors, lorries, dromedaries and handcarts!
J 8 : Jaisalmer – Thar desert by dromedary
In the morning we leave by jeep for the Thar desert. On the way, we’ll pay a visit to the Jain temple of Amarsagar, the cenotaphs of Barabagh and of Loduvra, the ancient capital of the Jaisalmer kingdom and to the abandoned village of Kuldhara. We lunch in the village of Khuri, where we’ll meet the camel team with their dromedaries. Leaving on camel back in the middle of the desert, we’ll reach our encampment at sunset. Dinner in our bivouacs among the dunes (tents, mattresses and bedding are provided). FULL BOARD
The west of Rajasthan, known as Marusthali, or “land of sands” in the local Marwari language, is at one of the extremities of the Thar Desert, a mass of gravel and sand extending as far as Sindh (part of Pakistan) and which is encircled by this vast, arid belt which extends from the Sahara to the Gobi desert, passing through central Asia and Asia Minor.
NB : The above-mentioned itinerary is optional. The only imperative is to respect the arrival and departure times. Your driver is at your disposition throughout the day (from 7am until 10pm)
