Violência contra a mulher – um escândalo universal contra os direitos humanos
A violência contra a mulher é um dos maiores escândalos contra os direitos humanos da atualidade. Do nascimento à morte, em tempos de guerra ou paz, mulheres vêm enfrentando discriminação e violência nas mãos do governo, da comunidade e de suas famílias. A violência contra mulher não se limita a um sistema político ou econômico em particular, ao contrário, é prevalente em todas as sociedades do mundo e ultrapassa barreiras econômicas, raciais e culturais. As estruturas de poder que perpetuam a violência contra a mulher são profundamente arraigadas e intransigentes. A violência ou ameaça de violência inibem mulheres no mundo todo do exercício pleno de seus direitos humanos.
Mulheres no mundo todo têm se organizado para expor e combater a violência contra a mulher e a discriminação. Conseguiram mudanças profundas nas leis, políticas e práticas. Trouxeram as violações, normalmente abafadas, para a arena pública. Estabeleceram que a violência contra a mulher exige providências dos governos, comunidades e indivíduos. Acima de tudo, desafiaram a idéia de que as mulheres são vítimas passivas da violência. Mesmo em face de dificuldades, pobreza e repressão, as mulheres lideram a luta contra a discriminação e a violência contra a mulher.
As mudanças devem acontecer em nível internacional, nacional e local. Devem ser implementadas por governos e entidades privadas, por instituições e indivíduos. Os tratados internacionais devem ser respeitados, as leis devem ser adotadas ou abolidas, os sistemas de apoio devem ser implementados e, acima de tudo, as atitudes, preconceitos e crenças sociais que protegem e reforçam a violência contra a mulher devem mudar.

Translation, subtitling, editing and proofreading of HBO's series "SEX AND THE CITY", Paramount's "STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION", feature films and several music documentaries including Live Aid, Bob Marley, Ray Charles and Bob Dylan.
