About me
I have been working as a freelance translator for six years. My translation experience spans the areas of marketing, public relations, business, law, tourism and medicine. My clients include reputable marketing companies, individuals and translation agencies.

Coming from a journalistic background (I worked as a staff writer for newspapers in the US and Germany for eight years), I am committed to accuracy as well as deadlines. My journalistic experience has provided me with insight into many fields and writing styles, which I now draw on during my translation assignments. My clients can always expect the same diligence and attention to detail from me that were mandatory in my journalistic career.

I received my education in Germany and the USA. I have earned a German Abitur with a specialization in English and French and a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. To further advance my language and translation skills, I have earned a certificate in German-English translation from New York University, which included courses on medical, legal and commercial translation. I have also earned a graduate certificate in Integrated Marketing Communications, with emphasis on public relations, from West Virginia University.

I live in a bilingual (English-German)household and am raising two bilingual daughters. My current residence is in the United States; however, I have lived in Germany for 21 years of my life and in the USA for eight years. My experiences in both countries have not only given me insight into the language but also into the culture of the people, which I feel is equally important when doing translations.
