About me

Services
I offer translation from German, English, Dutch and Swedish into my mother tongue (Danish). I also offer proofreading of translations in my language pairs as well as texts written in Danish. I specialize in technical translation but also translate texts that are more general in nature as well as business correspondance and certain legal documents (trade agreements and the like).

Training and other background information
I have a university degree in philosophy, musicology and German (MA). My philosophy studies have strengthened my analytical skills and the accuracy of my verbal expression, and by studying German, I gained a deeper grammatical understanding as well as a precise command of grammatical terminology. However, my German and English skills are most of all the result of having lived in Australia and Germany for 12 and 14 months respectively. Please download my cv for more information.

Interests and specialties
I take a particular interest in the challenges involved in the communication between experts and laymen. My thesis was about the importance and the difficulty of maintaining philosophical discourse across academic and other boundaries. Thus, I am very concerned about the comprehensibility of technical texts and strongly believe that - with proper care - most information can be effectively communicated to most people. When I translate technical texts, I therefore constantly have the target audience in mind and am very sensitive to the need of sometimes explaining terminology.

I have several years experience working as a singing teacher (individual and group sessions), and I have also taught German at an upper secondary school as well as privately. Presently, I am doing some follow-up training in Oslo to become a certified philosophical counsellor.

The dropdown menus have been divided into two-dimensional panels with similar items grouped together under headings. The "My ProZ.com" menu was moved up here to simplify the main navigation, and to keep all of this type of information together.
