• The print feature provides the user with a vast range of capabilities. Both a single file and a set of files can be printed with predefined settings. The ‘Print preview’ dialog box contains a large number of settings, for example DWG/DXF line width, color and layers, and nil width value. Printing ‘in tiles’ allows printing images on any number of sheets of any size with the necessary scale. For example, large images (A0, A1 etc) can be divided into many small pages of different size for subsequent pasting together into one big drawing. Any ‘tile’ can be printed independently. Therefore, if one page seems defective (e.g., because of problems with the printer), it is possible to re-print this page separately. As an alternative to printing the whole file, it is possible to print a selected area (with the help of ‘Clip Rectangle’ that selects the required part) and print the viewing frustum. Color drawings can be printed with a black-and-white printer in high quality and without grey half-tones. RÉSUMÉ : Cette étude a pour objectif d’analyser les usages d’un outil technologique wiki dans le cadre d’enseignements universitaires français. Par une méthodologie ethnographique d’observation et d’analyse des activités des différentes étapes du processus d’écriture médiée par wiki, l’auteur s’attachera à montrer en quoi cet instrument wiki favorise des pratiques pédagogiques innovantes. Deux contextes et trois activités ont été retenus : en formation à distance, la rédaction/édition d’un devoir collectif et la réalisation d’un suivi d’étudiants, ainsi qu’en formation en présentiel, l’évaluation par les étudiants d’un enseignement en fin de cursus. Il sera apprécié non seulement les potentialités pédagogiques de cet outil d’écriture collective dans l’enseignement universitaire mais aussi l’engagement des acteurs lors des processus d’écriture et de travail collaboratif.

Wikis at university: what for? An analysis of collective writing practices
ABSTRACT : The objectives of this study are to analyse the use of the Wiki technological tool in French university teaching settings. Through an ethnographic method of observation and analysis of activities concerned with various process stages of writing mediated by wikis, the author aims at demonstrating how tools such as wikis gratify innovative pedagogical practices. Two contexts and three activities were thus selected: distance training, writing and editing of a collective work and the creation of student follow-up including on site training, evaluations by students of teaching practices towards the end of the course. Under particular scrutiny are pedagogical practices of this collective writing tool in university teaching as well as contributors' implications to writing processes and collaborative work.

Professional AND graduate in New technologies (Technical translation, Elearning), Social Sciences (Psychology, Linguistics, sociology,...) and Literature, I became freelance after working full time in a computer firm, specialised in WAN networks (jobs included the translation of User manuals, data sheets, technical specs..)
Experience in translating for the social sciences also include projects in Psychology (including questionnaires) and marketing ; abstracts for academic specialist journals, as well as in linguistics (& full research articles in linguistics).. For instance, I regularly work for the CNRS (The French National centre for scientific research) and for Scientific university research labs, at the University of Montpellier (researchers with whom I worked whilst I was there full time) as well as for other researchers in the USA. I also work on Elearning projects, uploaded onto my own Elearning platform - for the time being focalised in Psychology and the social sciences generally.
I am involved in a research program on IT & Psychology with the University of Montpellier III.
I graduated in Languages, Literature and Psychology from OXFORD BROOKES University, GB and later graduated twice more in Mutimedia (Bachelor level) and at Masters level in Multimedia & ICT, specialising in Elearning, from the renowned technical french school "Ecole des Mines".
Occasionally I greatly enjoy working more with detail and linguistic complexity, when the occasion arises (always welcome!) tackling literature and poetry, with a special interest in religious studies and particularly Buddhism.
