DescriptionThe Irish Translators' & Interpreters' Association...was formed in 1986 as the Irish Translators' Association by: Anne Bernard, Cormac Ó Cuilleanáin, and J.F. Deane. It comprises translators and interpreters working in many languages and fields. It includes both literary and technical translators and seeks to improve the development of a profession which can contribute to Ireland's international standing in culture and commerce.













****Only a "Professional Member" is allowed to






use the initials MITIA after a name. (Membership is under five categories:honorary, student, ordinary, professional and corporate.)






****A professional member shall use






membership of the ITIA as a






professional qualification only in those






languages and language combinations






determined by the Professional Sub-






Committee.






****Apart from the above two provisions,






membership of the Association may not be






used as a professional qualification
