Post-Editing is often seen as a low-skill low-reward activity that only the worst translators would agree to do. However, in a broader context, as there is a much broader context for post-editing related work and there is also possibly the emergence of new linguistic analysis roles.

The session will cover the following issues:
  • Post-editing can involve and be any and all of the following:
  • Basic brute force correction of bad MT translation
  • Analysis of error patterns and development of rules to handle error patterns
  • MT quality assessment to enable fair post-editing compensation
  • Average effort measurements • Sampling • PEMT Rate setting
  • Development/creation of new data to make the MT engines more intelligent
  • Linguistic problem solving e.g. How do you build an MT engine for SMS or Chat?
  • Focused translation strategies for scarce data scenarios to solve new kinds of translation problems
