I have 11 years of experience as a staff translator and interpreter. I worked at the UK Ministry of Defence for 10 years and then for 1 year at the International Criminal Court in The Hague (Netherlands). Since July 2007 I have been working as a freelance translator and interpreter.
As a freelance I work for a number of translation agencies, both in the UK and in Europe. I also work as a contractor for the International Criminal Court, the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and the UK Ministry of Defence, in addition to a small number of private clients. My work has included lengthy, time-sensitive and confidential assignments requiring a high degree of accuracy and excellent research and time-management skills.
I was awarded an MA in Translation and Interpreting by the University of Bradford (French and German) in 1995. I have also been a full member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) since 2001 and have been examined by the Institute for translation from French to English. In July 2008 I was granted Chartered Linguist (Translator) status by the Chartered Institute of Linguists.
My specialist areas are: technical, defence, legal (international criminal law and EU legislation) and business and commerce.
I have full professional indemnity insurance and I am committed to regular Continuous Professional Development to ensure that my skills are kept up to date.
