Hazem Hamdy (Egypt)
Bio: Hazem Hamdy is the organizer of TranZ-Arabia I and the "First ProZ.com Mini-Conference in Egypt" (2010). He has been practicing as a freelance translator since 1996 and, additionally, as an interpreter since 2001, after spending more than a decade of his early career in the localization field. His first degree was in computer engineering and his second is in Islamic studies and Arabic linguistics. He also holds a certificate of professional written translation from the American University in Cairo.

Hazem has lived in the UK, and has worked in Saudi Arabia for several years. He also has extensive international business exposure through frequent business trips to the USA, most European countries, all GCC countries, etc. He currently lives with his family in Cairo, Egypt.

Alaa Zeineldine
Bio: Alaa Zeineldine is an ATA certified Arabic/English translator. Alaa holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken. He graduated from Alexandria University in 1975 to serve as a Computer instructor in the Air Defense Academy. His work as a software engineer then took him from Egypt to Britain and finally to the US, where he worked for AT&T, DEC, Compaq, and HP. Alaa cultivated his interest in language and translation as a pastime alongside his software engineering career, until he finally decided to leave HP in 2003 to work as a fulltime freelance translator focusing on technical translation. He now works mostly from Alexandria, Egypt. Alaa is currently involved with the ATA ad-hoc committee working on establishing an English>Arabic certification exam. He had also served for six years as a ProZ.com moderator.

Bio: Dr. Doaa Nabil Embabi: Lecturer at Ain Shams University and part-time instructor at the School of Continuing Education, Translation Studies Division, AUC. Currently, also a freelance interpreter and translator mostly working in the fields of development, political, and legal translations. Among the areas of research interest is examining ways for teaching simultaneous interpretation skills for the language pair Arabic/English, and examining external influences on the production of certain translations.

Fahd Hassanein (Egypt)
Bio: Fahd Hassanein is Business Development and QA Manager at Arabic Localizer, an Egyptian company specialized in providing Arabic language services. During his professional career, Fahd came across various stages of the translation process. Before embarking on the freelance translation career, he worked as a website content editor for an Arabic/English portal and work was primarily based on translating content in both language directions. He also worked in translation service sales at a reputable translation company, a stage at which he worked alongside the project management team which helped build his awareness of the translation process from offering translation services to the client and until delivering the final translation product. In addition to this, a long experience in different cultures as a result of traveling to different places helped Fahd note the various cultural factors affecting the translation itself which is an important part of the translator’s job.
