|Description: ||For reasons beyond my control, I may have to quit the translation business. |
I have been a full time translator for the last twenty years, although my experience in translations is longer than that. Now, due to an eye problem and a physical ailment in my right arm, I may have to quit this type of work in the near future. Considering that I have no other source of income and that I rent a house in the country side, where I live with two dogs, I have decided to buy a little piece of land and a camper van/motorhome to live there and so avoid having to pay a rent, should things get worse. I will try to get a different kind of job, where my eyesight and arm problem will not be a hindrance, although it won't be easy at my age (I am 61) and will probably be a low salary job.
I do have enough money to buy a little plot of land, but don't have enought to buy the camper van/motorhome. Thus, I have decided to sell the Trados translation memories I created and built up in almost twenty years of work. Soon I will not need them, but they could be of help to get the money to buy the van. It's about 12 GB of data and it consists of many different TMs: technical, automotive, medical and medical instruments, Bussiness, IT, Marketing, Fashion, Cosmetics, Legal, Healthcare, Printing, Maritime, and more). Some of them are quite big, in particular technical, medical and Business-IT TMS, each of them being more than half gigabyte in size.
If only twenty translators bought them, I would have enough money to buy the van/motorhome and stop renting a house.
I have set a price of €300, which I believe is more than reasonable.
