Hi everyone, I am currently into a project in Across for the first time in my life. In particular: can I manually join/split sentences (the source file is segmented by sentences, not paragraphs)? I've kept searching for the right button quite a long time, looked through the help, PDF docs and tutorials on the Across site, to no avail. They have an interesting way of manipulating segmentation by defining sort of 'rules' using simple variables and logical operations, but I would prefer to do it for one particualr sentence by just a mouse click. Am I right that one just can not manually adjust segmentation of sentences on the fly in Across? If yes, I'll have to either figure out how make an appropriate segmentation 'rule' and apply to one sentence, or just edit the source file and import it once more (and I am a lazy person with tight deadline... ▲ Collapse | | | Åsa Campbell Australia Local time: 09:11 Member English to Swedish Shift+Alt+Up/Down arrow | Jul 5, 2008 |
Hi, You should have two buttons in the Source Editor's toolbar (the window in the middle with the source text). This toolbar starts with a flag representing the source language. In that toolbar you have two buttons Expand/Shrink source segment (Shift+Alt+Up/Down arrow). Hope this helps! Åsa | | | Callmeaspade Russian Federation Local time: 02:41 English to Russian + ... But unfortunately that's not exactly what I am looking for. Expand/shrink works only for sentences within one segment (i.e. in one 'cell' of the source 'column'). And what I am trying to find out is how to join two segments (i.e. 'merge' two 'cells'). Looks like there's no quick and easy way to do it. A pity, but I still like the tool... | | | Uwe Schwenk (X) United States Local time: 18:41 English to German
The splitting and/or separating can be done during import of the project, because there is the settings of paragraphs above 1000 words which can be split at the sentence level. However, this will apply for the whole project. To do this on a more selective way, use a workflow when finishing a task, and you are asked on whether to store the translations in the database.
