Check-out Wizard takes too long

I just finished translating a fairly lengthy Excel file with Across.

Everything worked okay until I started the check-out wizard to save the document to the original format (I assume this is similar to Clean Up in Trados?). In the Export Progress of the Check-OUt Wizard the process did not take very long, it shows 100% complete, but the bottom line "Storing..." has been running for well over an hour and does not appear to finish.

According to Help, it should say Storing finished so I can click Finish on that window to complete the action. It does not appear to be frozen, as I tried to cancel it and it asked me if I really wanted to interrupt the storing process.... What to do? Is this normal? Are there other ways of getting the target file out in an Excel format?

Follow-up to my own question Jul 21, 2008

Hello everyone, just in case someone runs into the same issue, here is what happened:

While the Excel file was being checked out in Across, a small Excel window popped up, reminding me that the Excel versions (source - target) would not be identical and there may by 'minor loss of fidelity'. This is not serious in itself, but the program will not continue until you confirm that this is okay or cancel.

The problem is that the Excel notice popped up behind the Across screen. Because the Across window was maximized, I did not see it at all (also did not appear on Windows taskbar below). What was annoying - Across does not allow you to change the screen size (smaller or minimize) while the check-out function is running, so even if you know something is there, you cannot access it. So the program was not slow, it was just waiting for my command...

Hi Brigitte,

My guess was a macro in the excel file. Sometimes macro security levels cause such delays, until you notice it.

But this one needs reporting to Across. I remember a similar delay when installing Oxford English Dictionary, setup.exe asked for the second CD but the pop-up window was behind the main window.
